I'd always been 90% natural, with the 10% of makeup being eyeliner, bit of dark circle concealer, and some Chapstick. About two years ago, I was bitten by the makeup bug. It started off slowly, buying the nicest brow pencil here, and getting some essential mascara there. However, I kept it all under wraps, and usually only wore it during special occasions. Then the Kylie lip kits came out... something about them triggered a frenzy. I went to Sephora and discovered the matte lipsticks by Kat Von D and decided to purchase two. Now I want to wear makeup all the time! My husband can't handle and he called me vain the other day. I secretly love that he prefers me without makeup, but it stung when he said that because I realized he was right. I used to think girls who wore makeup did so to hide their insecurities, but now I see how it enables vanity. Do other people view women who wear makeup every day as vain? I dont want to be vain! The problem is that I know how good I look with makeup on and I don't know if I can go back!

I don't wear makeup for vanity. I like expressing myself creatively and makeup is another way to do that. I can make my eye colours cool and crazy colours or I can wear a bright lipstick to cheer myself up. Of course people think it's all about changing yourself or vanity but it's no more vain than wearing a nice pair of shoes.3
