So im going into my senior year of highschool next year and I still have my braces. I still have them because I have an impacted tooth with means that one of my teeth has still not come down. 5 years ago they did surgery where they put a chain on the tooth and attatched it to my braces to pull it down. 5 years later it's right above my gum line but still hasn't come down. I went to the ortho yesterday and I asked if they could be off by the time of senior pictures (August) and he laughed in my face. So basically if I continue to wait for the tooth to come down I will have braces through whole senior year. I could just tell the ortho that I give up and I want him to take out the tooth and put in an inplant, but will I regret that for the rest of my life? I reallllly hate having braces because I've never had a boyfriend and don't have a good record with boys. People have had a crush on me but I'm convinced they've never seen my smile. So should I keep the tooth or no?
