My mom commented on it today. She said in pictures it looks like I'm balding and it makes me look stupid. This is the pic I took today that caused this convo. Does it look like I am balding? Does it make me look bad and unattractive?

I don't think you're balding, I think you have a receding hairline. Some folks have that. You do not look stupid at all. I think you're a cutie. Talk to a stylist & see if a different hair style would work better for you. Do not go to a barber shop, ok?

As for your mother...she is not helpful. If she says anything like this again, tell her just that. "Mom, I love you, but you are not very helpful when you say that." And leave it at that.

Er...I think you need to go somewhere else to get something new. Do you have any sisters? If you do, find out where they go. If not, ask some friends (girls) where they go. Go to an up scale salon to get something new. If you like it, you can take some photos of it & see if someone at 1st choice can do that for you. You will certainly pay more, but you get what you pay for.

Don't give it another thought. It is a tad thin up front, but I think that's normal for most men unless you are Hispanic. For some reason, they are just gifted with thick hair. I think you are obsessing on your hair because your mom has been harsh with you. That is terrible. I don't know what her problem is with this, but forget about it. You look fine.

If so, I do hope you resolve them because you are a young man & you do not need to carry this with you through life. Nothing else to do? Hobbies, read. Cover up that mirror, it isn't about what we look like, it is about what kind of person we are, who we are, and who we can & want to be. Looks can be deceiving, and they fade. It's great that you are helping your dad, speaks to your character. Now, cover up the mirror, so to speak, & stop thinking about mom's words. What does she know? She should be telling you that you are a good, caring son. Now, start thinking about things you want to do.

Then, get out & do stuff! You're too young to sit around. Find stuff to do. Get a hobby, take a class, volunteer, go to church, go to coffee shops (usually chess games & clubs there), check out groups & clubs in your area. Just don't sit around & be stagnant. It's not good, & you know it, you feel it. So you have 2 choices: keep doing what you're doing & be miserable, or make changes & possibly create a better life for yourself. Now, which sounds better? It's a risk, but who said life was safe.

It's more of a receding hairline. My friend has it at 18, but it's not noticeable because of the way it's cut. He just doesn't have long hair anymore, just cut into a nice style. So of this is bothering (and it seems like it is) get your hair cut into a nice style.

I think that is how a bunch of guys look with short hair. I was just thinking about getting mine cut short and then I thought how I would look like my hair line is receding.

Short answer - Maybe a little, but it's normal with some guys. Don't worry about it.
