Why do "hot" women give me more attention than average ones?

I'm not the greatest looking guy, I've gotten compliments but I'm not a model or anything, certainly not the worst looking. If I smile at girls, a lot of times the better looking ones will give a flirty giggle, but often the average and slightly above average ones won't even crack a smile. And if there's a group of girls and I walk past and say "hi" a lot of times the only one who responds is the pretty one out of the group. I'm not totally shallow, but who do you think I'm gonna go for, the unresponsive one or the flirty one? Why do the really pretty ones seem more friendly and approachable?

Oh, and guys often make comments like "she's out of your league, don't even try" or "you're high". But those girls are pretty much the only ones who really like me.

The reason is that average girls are actually more in demand than hot girls. Almost every guy thinks of a hot girl, "She's out of my league", "She probably has a bad personality or low intelligence", "She'll reject me instantly" and "She must have a boyfriend". Therefore, most guys don't approach hot girls.

Probably. Average women can be rude, especially when they're outnumbered by men, like they think they're something special. My last job was only 5% female, and even the homliest of the women had attitudes.
