Is a Mexican man flirting with a girl if he calls her 'mija'?

I know the literal translation of 'mija' means 'my daughter'. But I'm wondering if there is a context in which a guy uses it as a flirty term, because I've never heard it used that way.

It's more of a word of endearment, some guys will use 'honey' or 'princess', I'm pretty sure it may be similar to that in that respect.
