A girl asked for my number and when she texted me she asked for the hw assignment, and I texted back with a witty comment and we'be been texting ever since one huge tip! Text the way you would talk to her in real life. Don't become some other dude over sms. And I agree with the chick, just start with the basic "Hey it's [insert name]" and she'll respond and you use your wit to respond with a friendly but hinty text. Don't give too much over text, save your charisma and confidence for in person interaction. It's way better that way because she will see you're a good texted and socialable in person. Good luck!

But rather something simple along the lines of "Hey! It's ___?"
Or by using the shock factor:
> Guy: "Hey! It's ______. Quick question, which is better? Coffee or tea?"
> Girl: Coffee
> Guy: I like your tastes, (insert girl's name). Coffee it is then! I know this really nice cafe, want to go test it out sometime this week? :)
Also make sure to mention her name sometimes in your messages. It makes stuff more personal!
Just text like you are talking in person, but don't send like a book, if you have a story cut parts out. I like when guys text me like that because, then the convo flows really easily.
Just say "hi", "what's up" and so on. It doesn't have to be anything clever. Actually, I HATE it when guys use charismatic messages in text.
