Bro you just gotta talk to her. Like I'm a freshman who likes a sophomore at my school and I'm too shy to talk to him. If you don't have any classes with her since you are a sophomore then find the right time to strike up a conversation. Perhaps waiting in a line ( I did this with my crush ) or walk next to her and start talking. If you have any events that occurs at your school take a picture with her and ask her for her Instagram where you can get in touch. ( legit did this with my crush too not ashamed ) All in all don't be afraid to just randomly talk to her because I wish I could talk to him. But since you do ask her for help on the homework or ask her for her kik so you guys can contact eachother whenever either one of you is absent. I understand your struggle, fam so just take it by the balls and be brave.
To be less shy, she is basically a person so just treat her like one. She isn't going to shoot you in the face for talking to her or yell at you. There is nothing wrong with talking to the person you like. I got really nervous when I was talking to my crush but I just remembered to smile and kept thinking ' you're just a guy, I don't even like you.' And it actually made me less nervous.
The guy I liked use to be in my art class so I would ask him what he was doing on some assignments or how to do them it was cool.
Basically just remember she's a human being just like anyone else and if it makes you feel better I bet you she's probably thinking you're one hot ass looking tamale she wanna eat up. ;) ;) good luck, fam.
