Guys, what would you think if a girl sent you a DM on Instagram?

There is a guy I am friends with on Instagram. He is from the same town I am from and he is really attractive, loves his daughter and has similar things in common with me. We do not know each other personally but I would like to get to know him. I wanted to possibly send him a DM to say hello. Is this a good idea? What do you think if a girl sent you a message?

I kind of hate when someone who I don't know sends me a message just saying "Hello". I can already tell the conversation will be boring and generic.

So I'm not saying don't message him, but get a lot more creative then hello.

Did he post any interesting pictures up? You can ask him where he took it and just start off a conversation from that point. You're showing interest in what he likes and it becomes easier to connect.
