Liking someone vs the attention they give you?

Does this happen often to you? Do you find yourself realizing, when they've stopped giving you attention (or as much attention), that you just really liked the attention someone gave you more than you actually liked the person?

totally happening to me right now. I'm cool with it cause feelings are SUPPOSED to be removed, but I'm not getting attention either so... therein removes the attraction to that person.

I could go on a whole rant about it but I'll spare y'all.

I have always found this fascinating because like most people I have been on the giving and receiving end of attention. In an ideal world the attraction is equal and something happens but more often the attraction is unequal which leads to sometimes the attention being perceived as too much but take it away, it feels like there is a big hole in your life.
I suppose everybody likes attention but we just want it on our own terms and hopefully without anyone getting too hurt which a lot of the time seems like an impossible dream.

personally I don't do this. I find this interesting tho. Do some girls do this? I guess some people just like attention or are selfish.

I totally understand. When any guy goes out of his way to get my attention but realize that I'm not interested in them, suddenly they just go cold turkey

I like people more as they give me more attention, but i've never considered it backwards.

I mean like, I think I like the person but it turns out I just liked the attention they gave me. When I see them around or interacting with others I realize I'm not attracted to them like I thought I was, and only felt that way because they were showering me with attention.
