(Guys and girls opinions appreciated) Do guys typically mention their girlfriends in conversation? Is it weird if they don't?

***You dont have to read the backstory, I know it's lengthy, but any answers are appreciated***

I'm friends with this guy (I kind of have a crush) but we have been friends for almost 2 months or so.
Me and my friend (we're all in the same uni class) can't tell if he has a girlfriend or not, which is weird. The only mentions were:
1) Back on Vday she asked what he did (they were partners) and he said dinner and a movie and said just "with m'lady"
2) Over Easter I got a ride with him so over 6 hours of chitchat (some really deep stuff) and he mentioned that he can't tell when a girls hitting on him for example when he's with his (he took a long stuttering pause) m'lady"
3) Same friend (I wasn't there) asked if his parents were coming to the show and joked she'd sit with them then said won't your special lady friend get jealous, and he got a little weird and she asked if he still had one bc last time they talked (#1) he did and he just brushed her off and said "we're not doing this", and she jokingly dug more and he was about to answer but then they were interrupted but apparently seemed like he was going to say yes she'd be there.
4) Two other people we know said he might or he did at least did in Feb.

The amount of convos we've had about so much and he hasn't mentioned a name or anything else but "m'lady" once. He and I have a really strong chemistry (others have noticed), and there are times when I think he feels it too or he is at least very comfortable with me as friends, but yet why not mention anything about her? I feel like people typically say something, or its posted somewhere or something but nope. I want to know if he does so I know how to proceed (of course asking would be easiest but for some reason I feel too awkward to bring it up).

Any ideas?
