and if a girl playfully slaps you on the cheek/neck area and you say jokingly "my beautiful face" are you flirting?

Normally it is considered a sign of flirting yet i've seen a lot of girls who do this to their guy friends. The question is were you trying to flirt with him or were you just being friendly?

So you are actually interested in him? If you want him to get an idea but don't want to be too obvious it's better to hint at wanting to spend time alone with him in my opinion. That's probably the only thing that most guys would consider as a sign of being interested (and act on it). When it comes to flirting... well a lot of girls do it just for attention or boredom so he might not make a big deal out of it

Depends on the girl really. If I think she is more of the girly type, then it's more likely I'd assume she was flirting. If she was more tomboish type, I'd just think she was friendly.
