Oh yes, that is SO true. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE a strong jaw and strong chin on a guy. It's incredibly attractive. I prefer that on a guy even though I like the rest of the face to be more boyish and 'introverted': beautiful eyes, full lips, smooth skin, etc.
I was 12 the first time I noticed my attraction to strong jaws, now I'm 20 and nothing has changed in that regard. I agree, it's hard-wired.
Now, add a thoughtful, intelligent, and romantic personality, someone who knows how to treat a woman, someone who's interested in a serious relationship and it's the perfect man for me.
P.S.: Before submitting my answer, I asked nearly a dozen of my female friends and ALL agree that a strong jaw is VERY attractive.
Yes. Women are biologically set to desire a strong jaw line. It is evidence of high testosterone, fertility, strength. All factors which contribute to a male being able to father offspring and
feed/protect them. A very interesting FYI is that when women are ovulating this characteristic is even more important to us. We are less interested when we are out of cycle and may in fact find a weaker softer face less intimidating so more safe. In studies I have seen most women are completely unaware of the role hormones play in these choices. So while we may say "it doesn't matter to me" I can promise you that biology rules and it does.
As it so happens, I find Brad Pitt and Tom Welling very attractive. As for David Coulthard, I'm not digging his jawline too much, or his face. haha. I think the face just has to be well balanced in general..Brad Pitt is just handsome in general (his face, I mean), and Tom Welling has gorgeous eyes. Personally, the jawline never really caught my attention until you've pointed out that 2 men that I find attractive are on your list! haha. (I voted D)
So my answer in short is, that the jawline specifically does not make a guy attractive, but rather if the features all harmonize on his face. :)

I don't find any of the guys you mentioned particularly attractive, but a strong jawline can be nice. It looks good on Orlando bloom, for example. It's generally quite a masculine look, although Tom Welling kind of looks like a girl in some pictures.
God that is like one of the biggest turn ons believe it or not. If a guy has a really defined jaw line I'm just so drawn into it for some reason. I guess because it gives off the feeling of masculinity ( think I spelled that wrong lol)
Women are biologically wired to prefer men with strong jawlines because their sperm is more potent and they can produce stronger offspring. At least, that's what I've read.
strong jawlines are sexy it doesn't make a man more attractive but it doesn't hurt I mean look at Channing Tatum Heath Ledger Orlando Bloom...you get my point right? :D
