"Absence makes the heart grow fonder" or "out of sight, out of mind"? Which one do you agree with?

Both idioms are cliches, but an oxymoron next to one another. Which one do you agree with and why?

For clarification:

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder" - when people are apart, their love grows stronger.

"Out of sight, out of mind" - If you do not see someone or something frequently, you will forget about it.

Imo, "absence makes the heart grow fonder" applies for short periods of time. You see them after a week and it's like, "hoorah! I missed you!". HOWEVER, "out of sight, out of mind" is more relevant when communication isn't at its best and the time period is lengthier.

I think the latter is especially true when someone is playing "hard to get" and you essentially just get turned off and cbf with it.
