Never been asked out on a date, so I'm going to try...any tips? Please see details

I'll try to keep this short. I'm a 27 year old woman that has no success with men. I have never been asked out...never been kissed...etc. I've tried to make it easy for men to approach me..like going out alone...people at work and in class (I'm in grad school) know I'm single...heck..I even wore an "I'm single" shirt around town last week. Did not work. I thought maybe I dress too conservative...so I started wearing short skirts...nothing. So, maybe it's my looks?

Guys, am I just not someone you would want to date based on my looks? Please see link.

I really don't think it's my personality..I've been told that I'm very kind and get along with just about everyone. I smile a lot too.

I wasn't too concerned about this a couple years ago, but now that I'm 27, and everyone I know is married with kids already...I feel like a reject and that I'll be alone forever. Sorry for the sob story...I don't mean to sound whiney.

So, I'm going to start trying to ask men out...what are some tips? Thanks.

First of all I looked at your picture and you are very pretty. To be honest with you hun the world has a way of making things work. I know your feeling out of place and odd maybe lonely too. Here is what I know...love is not something you can MAKE happen its a perfect mix of all things in a moment. I do not think there is anything wrong with asking a guy if he would like to go to dinner or to a movie but by all means don't throw your self at him. If it is meant to be it will be. You WILL find the right one I have no doubt in that. From your writing alone I can feel your heart and I know that you have more to offer than you think.

Take it slow... Find things that you like to do and include (Him) in it. Do not offer to pay for it. If it comes down to it you pay for yours and he the same. If he picks up the tab great and it means he may not be a waist of time. If he makes you pay...take a cab home he is not a gentleman.

I hope this helps in someway what I want you to remember is that you have to know your worth it first. Be perfect all by your self then and only then give someone the gift of your love and time.

It could be that your body language is sending out silent "go away" messages, because it obviously isn't your looks. Smiling more would help too. Have you tried internet dating? That might be worth a try too.

Yes, I've tried internet dating but found it to be shady. I exchanged messages with a guy online for a couple months, and we met in person. I made it clear to him that I was looking for friendship at the time...I found out he lied to me about a lot of things and only wanted to get me into bed. I refused to see him, so he stalked me. I had to get a restraining order. So...no internet dating of any sort for me in the future!

I understand your frustration, I'm 25, educated and I believe I'm very attractive however can't get a date either. Guys don't approach me for some reason. I don't have mental issues or other things, I try to dress sexy and what not, and I'm not mean or a bitch either, they just look but don't approach.

I tried approaching guys, but believe me the experiences I've had from doing this are discouraging. These guys will think they are Kings and play hard to get. And one actually said that he was the "man" because I couldn't contain myself and had to approach him. Pathetic! But good luck, I'm thinking of just giving up and move on with life living single. Since I don't know the problem I don't see how I can "fix" it!

I'm really sorry to read that you are going through a similar situation. Yeah...I"ve had similar experiences with approaching men...it was hard for me to believe some people can be so arrogant. It makes me sad. Never give up! I stumbled upon a matchmaking service in my area. Maybe yours has one too. It seems safer than online dating or just approaching men. I might try it.
