When a guy pats your shoulder?

Hi a guy I have been talking to for a while who I think likes me seen me for the first time this year today and gently patted my shoulder, my friend thinks it's a guys version of a hug, but I think it means he sees me as just a friend, what do you think? thanks

well I am not sure what it means when a guy pats you on the shoulder but I don't necessarily think that it is a guys version of a hug. I think more or less he was flirting with you. sometimes when I flirt I usually pat their shoulder when I am talking to guys. and to me if the guy gets a tongue tied usually means that he was nervous talking to you which to me sounds like he likes you
