About 2 weeks ago I was writing a paper on a book and it was late at night when suddenly the word processor failed on me and I lost my documents, it was due the next day but I still knew I had to do it, so I started over and half the essay was from me and the other half was copied off the net. This is probably the first time I have done it and I was caught today, I got a 0 on the paper and my grade went down to a D+ but my grade will go up with another project that's due this Friday about advertising and hopefully it will go up to a c or c- , although I probably am going to pass the semester I still feel like a dumb ass. I can't get my mind off it and I feel worthless. how can I cope? any advice will do me good. thanks

we all copy.
i've done it before.
since the one you did before was killed by the computer.
and I agree with you, I would've done the same thing you did.
we are are human,
and human beings makes mistakes.
it teaches us to grow.
you feel remorseful and understand what you have done.
it's the first step in learning.
just don't do it again.
don't think your worthless, it's human nature.
what's done is already done.
there's no used crying over spilled milk.
so learn from your mistakes and grow to be the better person

You are coping. You did something wrong, you suffered the consequences and now because you don't like the way it makes you feel - you won't do it again (I hope). That's what's supposed to happen.
Don't beat yourself up too much - people do dumb things for the wrong reasons all the time. Focus on the lesson you learned and move on. Dwelling on it won't change it, so just take it for what it was, a mistake, and let it go.

Most high school kids have at one time or another plagiarized a paper or 30...
You're probably not so much upset about copying somebody elses work but more about yuour grade going down and the fact that you got caught.
That does not make you a bad person, it's just human nature to feel bad for yourself when something bad happens to you and most people just try to dilute themselves by saying or trying to convince themselves that they're upset about something they did.
Beg pardon? Plagiarism does make you a bad person. The only reason people get upset is because they got caught. Funny how people are now spouting that its human nature to steal and cheat, but its true. No wonder the economy and moral values are in the shitter.
I didn't say plagiarisim doesn't make you a bad person, I said feeling bad for getting caught doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you human.
