Can a girl be interested in a guy and yet sometimes ignores him even though she does show signs of interest?

Can a girl be interested in a guy:

if she ignores him, YET she shows deliberate signs of interest sometimes. (she actually shows that she's interested in a guy without telling him so)

Is she just not interested or does she want the guy to take control?

Yes I do it all the time. She wants to show SOME interest just so she can guage your reaction and see if there is a possibility you like her back. But then if you don't show interest back, she is going to think that you are not interested and she will "go cold" and completely ignore you or she is going to try to make it seem like you don't matter. We do that to protect our feelings from getting hurt. If there is a possibility that we could be making fools of ourselves because he may not like us back, we withdraw and lose confidence that he likes us.

The best thing you can do in this situation is show a lot of interest and I mean a lot. Girls sometimes think that there is no possibility that the guy we like could actually like us back and we may think that what we are seeing is an illusion. So you have to show enough interest to make her KNOW that you ARE into her and its not an illusion. Flirt, compliment her, smile at her, hold eye contact. Do anything because right now this girl is feeling like she has no chance with you and you are not into her.

Yes she can definitely be interested in you. I am in the same exact situation. I am not sure if he likes me or not so I don't want to seem like I am always looking out for him to be where I am or that I am overly interested. I will show signs that I am interested, but sometimes I just sort of let him walk by without me even acknowledging him. The thing is I totally know he is there lol. I want him to make a move so that I can be sure he is interested, if he does I will definitely show more signs that I am interested too.

What about guys .. do guys ever show they are interested and then at other times just walk right by like they don't even see you?

I'm in this situation. And yes... I'm waiting on the guy to make a move.

Sometimes I'll show interest just to try and get him to do something... when he doesn't, I feel like he doesn't like me so then I'll withdraw from him as if I don't like him in that way.

It's a shy girl's way of protecting her heart, and saving face from possible rejection.

So tell her. If she doesn't feel the same, at least you'll know... but if I were betting money on this, I would definitely bet that she's interested but she's too shy to make a move.

Yeah, even am sailing on the same boat... it is very confusing and frustrating...

My neighbour girl stares at me every time regardless whom am I with, be it my aunt or sister outside without giving a damn about their presence. They notice her doing so... But when I catch her staring at me she either put her head down or looks the other way or if she catches me staring at her she would express as though she could be never bothered and ignores me. Am a very shy person and not into these kind of things in fact she is the first girl that I want to make an approach and clarify. So one day I built the courage and said he Hi, she looked at me surprisingly and only smiled at me shyly... next day onwards she ignores me. Not sure if she hates me...

I agree completely with what 'that-one-girl' said.

I'm in this exact same situation, and it's just that I'm to afraid to say anything and petrified of rejection.

Often, when I like someone they may not even be able to tell. Girls sometime have a really hard time telling someone how they feel.

I'll drop the occasional hint here and there and hope to god the guy picks up on it but outside of that there won't be really any other signs. Maybe she's doing the same just hoping you'll pick up on I and say something?

I've grown up with opinion that the boy should be the first to ask, and if he doesn't say anything then he doesn't care enough to bother.

I suggest letting her know how you feel, showing her that you care for her! ~

Wel I thought this guy liked me because he would always smile and wave at me also and check me out but then I see him with another girl who lives in our building, so I don't know what to think when he "shows interest" ...so I ignore him and he still tries to get my attention. I don;t know what is going on.

In your case though, She may be playing hard to get because I sometimes ignore the guy that I really like. She is confused because you haven't been clear enough about how you feel about her. If you like her just tell her and become good friends.

to answer your original question--yes, definately. she probably does like you. I say this because I've been acting the same way towards a guy I like. I'm not proud of it, it's stupid, but there it is. it has to do with shyness, mainly. I think for girls it can be a little tricky. because even though we want the guy to know we like them, we don't want to be too forward and make fools of ourselves. or that's it with me anyway. since you still don't know her that well, I'de say that's probably it. keep getting to know her, and hopefully when the time is right, make a move!

Yes, I do it. Because one day I'm flirting with him intensely, then the next day, I think that I may have overdone the flirting, so I ignore him so I don't look THAT interested. But in actuality I am. AHAH. And Yes, I think it means that she wants you to take over and show your interest in her, because she's in the process of figuring you out still, and trying to see if you like her back. Good luck!

thats exactly what I do. I completly ignore the guy I like because I'm just too nervous to go up and talk to him or even look him in the eye and such. I would definitely show signs that I liked him though, but I ignore him until I eventually got up enough courage to talk to him

If a girl flirts, it can mean many things:

- she wants you to ask her on a date.

-she wants to make out.

-she's angry at her boyfriend and flirting with you to make a point.

-she's looking for some flattery/attention.

so never assume that she's interested in the same thing you are when a girl flirts or "shows interest."

It sounds like she likes you, to me, and she is really unsure of herself, no matter how extroverted she may seem. She might be compensating for the fact that she is insecure.
Usually, when a girl shows interest more than once, she's waiting on the guy to do something about it.
