She said she can't make it for our first date... good or bad sign?

So I met this girl recently and I really like her, and I think she likes me a lot too. I have learned not to trust signs because they're often misleading but some things are just very obvious. Tonight was supposed to be our first date and she said she was looking forward to it and I was as well. Just when I was finished getting ready and about to leave my apartment, I hear someone's calling my cellphone (and there has been five missed calls from her in the ten minutes before that one) and I pick up. It's her, she tells me she feels uncomfortable because she feels like she has something in her eye and keep touching them even though there's nothing, so she doesn't feel well and said maybe we should meet another time. She apologized and I said I understood and I do, but I'm wondering if it's a good or a bad sign.

On one hand, I'm a little disappointed because I made sure everything was perfect for tonight (my hair, my shaving, my laundry, the weather, my work-outs at the gym etc.) and of course I'm wondering if it's true etc. I really think it is because she called me like one hour and a half before the time we were supposed to meet so I thought it probably means she waited until the last minute to see if she would get better. Also, it seems like a very believable excuse and she called 6 times!

On the other hand, I'm happy because if it's true it means she didn't want me to see her like this when she was uncomfortable and had a problem and wanted to be at her best for the first date which I think is really really cute and reinforces my idea that she likes me. Also, it creates more build-up... which can be either bad or good...

What do you think? Did something similar happen to you? Thanks for the answers!

I would just believe her for now. When yall go out again next if she pulls something like that I would watch out. She either called you that much because she didn't want you to show up and catch her in a lie or she was telling the truth. If she didn't like you she wouldn't have agreed to go and wouldn't have said she was looking forward to it. Just relax and see whta happens for the next date. The eye thing does sound a little weird, but I mean who are we to judge? I would just continue to be nice to her and text her tomorrow to see if she is feeling better and say ,"Hope we can go out soon" or something, or "Let me know when you wanna get together" to put the ball in her court to see what she does/reacts.

Yes. Although, if she called me, it can't be because she doesn't want me to catch her in a lie, because we were supposed to meet at a bar, I wasn't picking her up at her house (because I don't even know where it is lol). I'll do that ;)

that's not encouraging...she has something in her eye, that's pretty lame. unless she spewing everywhere or her grandma just died, then it doesn't look good for you :(

Man, you have a good heart and it's good that you care so much. But you don't even know her that well? Is this some girl you've been dying to have since like the third girl or just some girl you met? My point is that you're thinking about this way too much. Take her at her word, she hasn't done anything to lose your trust. You guys will eventually go out then. And if she was lying, then she's not worth the effort.

So either way, why don't you go watch some TV or hit the gym or something. Forget about her for a while and revisit this tomorrow.

Yeah you're probably right. I'm just overthinking everything and, you see, ivarei who also replied said it's not a good sign at all. So I have mixed feelings about it. But I get your point, I guess I shouldn't think about it too much and do something else. Thanks.

Maybe it's not a good sign for you, but dog don't be so insecure. Think to yourself she's lucky to go out with you, so who cares if she flaked because she was having second thoughts. If it's not her, it'll be someone else.

Whatever you do, don't communicate to her that she can flake anytime on you without consequence. If I had some random eye problems and couldn't make a date, I would make it up to her and go out of my way to assure her I wasn't blowing her off. What would you do? At the very least, that's what you should expect of her.
