Is it weird I want my boyfriend to write me a love letter?

Anonymous
My boyfriend asked what he could do to make me happier (we've been going through a rough patch). I know he loves me but he's been a little neglectful so when he asked, I suggested he write me a letter. He agreed whole heartedly and I honestly think he forgot about it. He got busy. We have this little notebook we write in back and forth and he says sweet stuff (cheesy stuff like "you're beautiful or I love how you make me laugh" not even like complete sentences and doodles but nothing like the sort of expression I'd like ...so I think a letter would be best. He's very emotional and traditionally expressed his feelings in writing so I don't think it would've been a stretch...but how do I remind him/ask him without being pushy. I really don't want the traditional "make up" stuff: he can keep his jewelry and flowers and all that stuff. Him just taking time to think about me and do something I need would be enough.

Oh and by the way, I wrote him one early in the relationship (while he was out of the state for a while and he cherishes it...I mean he literally keeps it in his nightstand and I've caught him reading it a lot)

So is it weird to ask or remind him? This would mean a lot to me. Girls or guys let me know if I'm just being difficult or if its a good idea.

I think maybe people misunderstood...he asked what he could do for me, I don't want a card and flowers or a chocolates or another piece of jewelry I feel like a letter would have more value and meaning. So its not like I thought of this randomly with no prompting.
