What is 'waiting too long' to ask someone out?

As you can probably tell, I analyze the crap out of everything. But I digress.

What do people mean when they say "don't wait too long to ask someone out?"

Obviously, it could mean to do it before someone else asks that person out. But is that all it means? It could also mean to ask before whatever infatuation/attraction between 2 people wears off right?

Thoughts, send 'em my way. I need food for thought on this subject.

You could wait too long and she'll just pass you off as a player and move on. That would be bad and is very difficult to recover from.

She'll assume you're just playing with her/a flirt and will lose interest

She'll think you don't like her and move on.

She could get sick of waiting and move on.

She could lose interest in you and move on.

If you wait too long, you could lose your chance at a relationship with her.

But you shouldn't ask too soon because she might pass you off as a creep and say no.

These time restraints are different girl to girl. Too long for one girl could be two weeks after meeting, while that could be way too soon for another girl. You have to read each girl individually to get a sense of when is a good time.

Oh I used to be so patient in my teens and miss out on the good stupid stuff cause I was waiting around for other people... now I hate waiting!
When I text with a guy, I give him max 1 week to ask me out, if he doesn't and I really like him, I will say "hey it would be really cool to meet you" if he isn't asking me after that, he is out.
I personally don't waist my time and life anymore and honestly if he wants to wait, he is probably waiting for someone better to come around and you're just his second option and it also means, in my eyes, that he is just not that into you and that's a pass.
