My crush avoids eye contact with me :(?

so I'm 16, he's 17. he's pretty outgoing and confident, but I heard he has a fear of rejection and is kinda inexperienced with girls

-whenever I see him in a crowded hallway he completely avoids eye contact with me, except once today where he gave me a little half smile w/o looking into my eyes

-when we're alone in the hallways he'll wave to me or say hey and look me in the eyes

-today we were sitting next to each other (not by choice though) and I was trying to talk to him but he was being kinda quiet.

-when we're alone together we have really good chemistry and he talks a lottt. he shows off and tells me about himself/asks about me

-i overheard him talking with his friends and he MIGHTTTT have hooked up with a girl last week but I'm not 100 percent sure

-i catch him staring at me, but it's like once a week. I think he looks at me when he knows I'm not looking

-if I see him in the hallways ill go up and talk to him when we're walking to class. when he sees me in the hallways he'll just walk behind me not saying anything

and not to be cocky but I'm not ugly. I also once caught him staring at me when I was talking to a really attractive guy. ALSO when I see him in the halls when there is people I think he stares at me from afar but when we're closer to each other he'll look at his watch or talk to someone else etc.

I'm assuming you both see each other in school and also assuming that is also how you met. Crushing on someone will have you thinking about them a lot more than anyone else, one of these things thought about would be whether they like you or not. But what exactly do you plan to do if he does indeed like you?

To answer your opening question, I would say he could have rejected you but I wouldn't call it a "rejection". Your next question about whether he likes you or not, I would say he doesn't dislike you certainly but from what you have said there isn't a clear cut answer as to whether he likes you or not. And regarding your last question, I think the pause could have just been a pause of thought. I don't think there was any harm meant by it at all.

Maybe he could be into yoo or he could just find you very attractive and cute. also if he did like you I could still be possible for him hooking up/kissing the other girl. I think if he didn't answer your texts because maybe he could be busy. I think guys don't like to text girls back and forth a lot with the text because of the clingness factor. As far if he will date you it is hard to tell because he seems to be giving mixed signals. I think eventually if a guy likes a girl the nhe would ask a girl out on a date or even hint towards going on a date.

It's hard to say whether he's into you or not. The whole showing off and staring makes me want to say yes, but then he acts weird when you guys are close and in public. You said that he is inexperienced with girls, so I kinda doubt that he hooked up, especially since you don't know for sure. Sometimes, you might be reading him incorrectly. But sometimes, he could just be shy. Just because he is outgoing does not mean he isn't shy around you (soetimes).

First of all, how do you know he has a fear of rejection and is inexperienced with girls? How do you know this is true? If so, then no amount of confidence can ready him for something he has no experience with. So I think he's just shy sometimes.
