Using your name when texting you, flirting?

I heard that when you are talking to guys they like to hear their name in the conversation. So when a guy uses your name a few times when texting you, what does that mean? Is he flirting? Is it natural?

this is method tought in most effective communication courses (whether in business, personal or romantic). essentially reiterating their name is supposed to show that you recognize them specifically and I guess people like hearing their own name... I frankly think in flirting you should do it to a point but overdoing it can be obvious and obnoxious. I also don't know if that communication strategy would work over texting

He only does it a few times, andI kinda friend zoned him a few months ago, but we just started texting like every day for the past few weeks so yeah lol

I think he just wants you to know that he is serious and wants to commit to a relationship soon but don't give in because you don't want to jump the gun so soon. He may want one but you, your self Anonymous ;P might not be.
