Why does he act interested one minute and distant the next?

Lets say there's a guy who told me he liked me, was very thoughtful, and took lots of time to get to know me better and just hang out. That went on for half a year, and now it seems like his enthusiasm is sort of dampened. We're not official yet, but just last week he was doing things that made it almost for sure seem as though he still liked me.

Why is he doing that? Acts very much interested in me and flirty for weeks, then a few days here and there he kind of withdraws?

(He definitely doesn't have another girl btw.)

I am in a similar situation, so I know how it is. I think you should tell him you like him, since he told you he liked you. He probably is backing away cause he is unsure of you, cause he probably feels like "I told her I liked her, but yet she's not doing anything or reciprocating" Probably the reason why he is backing away. I assume he is shy? If he is a shy guy, then that could be it too! It could be he tells you somewhat of his feelings and then backs off cause of fear of rejection. I know everyone says "Let him make the effort" or "Always let a guy chase you" But I think in this situation the ball is in your court, and you should make the move :) Cause he seems unsure of how you feel towards him. Also he did the make the effort in telling you he liked you, so I would invite him out and tell him you like him, and see where it goes from there :)

Men have only a few emotions, and we're not good at doing more than one at a time. There's hungry, happy, sad, angry, determined, horny and snuggly/sleepy. Whichever one he's in is where he'll be until something changes his state of mind. If you want him interested in you, go for hungry horny or snuggly. :-)

Note that I didn't say "understanding" or sensitive, because most of us can only simulate those traits with great effort.
