Aaron (A) is someone I never met. He gave me his number because I was looking to buy something and thought he would know a person who had what I needed. He wanted to hangout afterwards.

We met up and his friends were there most of the time. This is our first time hanging out.
He gave me options throughout the day to go with his friends or stay behind with him in the car and listen to music.

Throughout the day he tries to put his arm around me or right on the seat I'm using ( I couldn't lean back without leaning on his arm)
Later he asks if I'm cold and put his arm around me.
I say im good and scoot away

Well later on he puts his arm around me and I leaned on his chest
(sitting in a backseat) and his arm tightens and he rests his hand on my arm and rubbing it.

Usually a guy puts his arm around you for one of three reasons. 1) he is a very considerate guy and wants to provide comfort during a time of stress. Like if he sees a girl crying or if he knows she is scared. that kind of thing. 2) He likes a girl but is kind of shy and won't come out and tell her so he puts his arm around her to test if she might be interested in him. This one also comes into play if he things he might have a chance with a girl but other guys are around so he is telling them he wants to try first. 3) He is claiming ownership of the girl. Basically he may like her or just want sex with her but he is telling everyone else that she is spoken for and to stay away.
The second and third one sometimes get confused and how he puts his arm around her makes the difference. In this case I would say option 2 is correct as all he did was bring you closer and rub your arm a bit and not over your shoulder like he was incasing your.

Sometimes, depends on the guy and the situation. Ishocnar pretty much said it. Like myself for instance, if I put my arm around a girl, it's either to comfort her or because I like her. I have autism, so physical contact makes me uneasy, even eye contact and hand shakes if they last too long. If I'm wrapping my arm (s) around her either way I really care about her enough to let the contact make me pretty uncomfortable, whether it's because I like her or care about her or both.

Now you just need to know his priorities (and your own) what do you want out of it and what does he want? If you don't settle that now you're going to end up acting on a whim.
