This guy I like only texted me once. Does he like me?

A get a lot of messages from various guys but I don't reply to everything. When a guy likes me, I find that he's willing to text me usually up to 3 times even if I don't respond. At that stage, depending on the content and mood he creates I might reply.

There's this really hot guy who approached me at the supermarket and took down my number. He texted me that night saying "It was a pleasure to meet you, hope to catch up with you soon". He didn't ask a question so I didn't reply, as I don't like to come across as desperate or chase a guy.
3 days later he still hasn't even asked me out or even texted me. It's annoying. I don't know, does he like me? He doesn't seem to be giving the attention that guys do when they like a girl.

Let me get this straight..you don't want to reply to him because you think that makes you seem desperate?
I know there are many guys who pursue girls relentlessly and some do succeed, but when a girl ignores my friendly text, I'd think one of the following:
A) She's not interested - so I won't bother again
B) She's rude - definitely not worth my time
C) She's high maintenance - again, not worth my time.
D) She's busy (e.g. exams etc.) - I might try again after a while if I really liked the girl, or wait for her to get back to me

Playing hard to get is a huge turn off for me, I don't know about other guys though. Another reason I don't like texting if I don't get a response is because a lot of girls have the tendency to talk about in a condescending way to others e.g. "oh gosh..he's texting me AGAIN..what does he want from me"
PS, I find it funny whenever my friends text a girl on Facebook, and it says the message was seen at so and so time, but they don't get a reply and when confronted, the girl goes "huh? I din't see your message, I'm so sorry". Girls are generally glued to social media these days, so if she doesn't reply, my train of thought would categorise her into one of the above 4 choices.

My advice? Text him. Initiate. Show some interest. What have you to lose?

How would he even be sure you got his text. Just because you reply it doesn't make u look desperate thats how texting works. All you have to do is reply with a simple text like it was pleasure to meet you too or im looking forward to seeing you again. Text him back because its obvious he's interested but to him it looks like you dont have the same interest.

When a guy only sends one text, it means nothing to me unless it was deep and thoughtful. I'm well aware that guys text many girls at the same time, so how does that make a girl feel special?
