jelly typically has less chunks of fruit in it but is a clean spread. so the fruits are pureed much more
jams will typically have little chunks of fruit in it
but i feel like today those rules tend to be followed less and less and people just use the word they want on their product1

Jam is fruit preserves here, usually for going on toast, usually for breakfast.
Jelly is fruit too but it's for dessert.
