Why eating hazelnut cocoa spread as it is, makes you so full even if it's not a big quantity?

Like 4-5 tablespoons. I decided to finish off the jar because I would be many hours out, and I wanted to not starve myself... but now I feel like I ate an XXL pizza.

Why's that?

  • I never feel full when I eat hazelnut cocoa spread. That's why I avoid it or I try to eat only 1 or 2 tea-spoons of it.

  • The nutritional profile of Nutella vs pizza is interesting and really answers your question quite well.
    Ounce for ounce Nutella has
    - more than twice the calories,
    - half the carbs
    - half the protein
    - 3 times the fat
It's the fat that's making you feel so stuffed.
Carbs don't fill you, fat and protein do.

Fair warning: do not conclude that pizza is the healthier choice. To figure that out you'd need to analyse the types of fat.

  • It's because it's full of fat and fatty foods fill you up much quicker, to the point of nausea.
