Why don't people like to cook anymore? Or even bother learning basic cooking skills?

It's ridiculous, really. Cooking is one of the most useful skills you can have. It seems that people are just really lazy now and find it easier to drive up to McD's for big mac meals, go to the store and buy frozen processed foods that they can throw in a microwave, or get take-out delivered to their house. It's no wonder why there is such a weight problem in many parts of the world now. People complain that they don't like to cook because they've already been working all day and they're tired now, or it's because they don't have time (but you have time to get fast food and plant your ass in front of the TV?) It's also really expensive to buy those things on a regular basis.

Cooking your own food from recipes or from scratch usually means that you'll make healthier choices, as long as you're not frying everything or smothering it in oil, salt, or sugar. Cooking is also lots of fun and allows for experimentation with food - new combinations, new tastes, new meal ideas. Not to mention the fact that cooking is a key survival skill.

Baking is also a good skill to know, especially if you are in the mood for a sweet treat like cookies, muffins, or cakes. And both things are fun to do with your partner or your children!
