7 Things An Independent Single Women Still Wants

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective, independent, career-driven women are more than likely single.

Focused on their hustle and grind, love might not always be a priority, but that does not mean they are unemotional robots.

Just because she is single that does not mean there is a void in her life. It's not that she is incomplete without a partner or that it's hard to find a partner. She is just trying to find the right person who will compliment her career aspirations and her lifestyle.

1. Cooking Up Some Love

She wants to share her skills in the kitchen with someone. Whether you cook together or she cooks for you, she wants you to get a taste of her cooking skills and wants to break bread with you.

2. Projects & Chores

She's an independent woman, but she still wants a handy man. You can help her assemble a table, but she'll be right next to you reading off the steps. She wants a team to be a part of where you tackle things together.

3. Feeling Needed

Friends, family, acquaintances, and work all might pull her in different directions, but being needed by a significant other is a special feeling. She still wants to be there for someone.

4. Good Morning & Good Night

A text good morning or good night can brighten somebody's day. She just wants to be thought of...

5. Valued & Appreciated

She doesn't feel worthless, but some affirmation and reassurance never hurt anybody.

6. Missing You

She just wants somebody to miss and wants somebody to miss her. An independent woman is more likely to be making moves and closing deals than wondering what someone’s up to, but that doesn't mean at the end of the night when the calm starts to settle that she doesn't want someone to think about.

7. Stop Asking Her "Why Are You Still Single?"

Do you expect her to say she's undesirable, flawed, and selective? She is just not seeing anyone at the moment, but that doesn't mean something is wrong with her.

An independent single woman might have the world, but at the end of the day, more than likely, she still wants someone to share it with.

The problem is any woman claiming to be "independent" is a red flag. These are women that have huge issues with men, and feel the need to compete with her guy constantly. As a result they often push men away. Men want to feel valued and appreciated as well, and women that are all about proving they are independent go out of their way to prove to the man that she doesn't need him.

I would say number one isn't true at all. Most independent women I have known may admit to having the urge to cook for her man, but will actually resist that urge and refuse to cook for him as she has been taught cooking for a man is a form of servitude and degrading. While your second point is often true this often upsets guys as we feel like she is forcing us into a gender role while avoiding her gender role. We see this as a huge double standard and find it to be degrading that we should be expected to fill a gender role but women should be seen as too special to be forced into a gender role.

A woman can be independent and not have these issues, but they those women don't feel the need to walk around claiming to be independent. Guys also need to feel needed and a woman that is too independent doesn't give him a chance to feel needed.

I would say the other issues you brought up on the list are mostly just about communication, which I agree that men and women often don't understand each other. While they are very good points, I don't really see them as issues independent women will have more than any other woman.

LOL I loved the last point, asking why someone is single. Solitude is a wonderful time in someone's life that you never really appreciate until it's gone. This is the time that you can explore what you love to do and do them without having to explain yourself to anyone. Most people who just long for a relationship don't take the opportunity to get to know themselves in a positive way to do these things. How many times do you hear of someone breaking up with someone because they need to "find themselves"? Or someone says to their ex, "I just need time alone!" If their partner wasn't an ass and the reason truly is to 'find one's self', then that should tell people that there is so much value in having their independence while keeping the door open for romantic opportunity. :)

At least in my experience, the "independent" women just want guys to stay the Hell out of their lives while wanting one at the same time. I see this all the time said by "independent" women:

-"ANY SEXUAL COMMENTS WILL GET YOU BLOCKED!"
-"MY SON IS MY LIFE! IF YOU CAN NOT ACCEPT THAT THEN LEAVE!"
-"I only date real men! If you're a hobo, don't have a car, a good job, and can't keep your place clean then don't even bother messaging me! Also, I only like tatted up guys, so don't message me unless you have a few."

Shit like that instantly makes me turn the other way, I don't care how attractive she is or what hobbies of mine she's into.

There's nothing wrong with women like that. You expect women in their twenties to want to date a guy that doesn't have a car, a good job, and can't even keep their fucking place clean (that's just common courtesy)?

Newsflash: women don't want to date losers that are couch potatoes with no presentability.

If the woman has a child and you want to date her, then it's expected that you "accept" that. You expect a woman to want to date you when you can't even accept the fact that she has a child that she cares about? She's right - if you can't accept that and that's such a problem for you, then date someone without a child. She deserves better.

The sexual comments one might be absurd, depending on the situation and what's being said and at what stage, but rest of the stuff is fair for women to say.

@R3d_Anonymous I'm not saying that what they're saying is WRONG, what I'm saying is them saying it is ridiculous. Imagine if the first thing a guy said in his profile was, "no gold diggers allowed" or, "unless you're a girl in nursing I'm not going to waste my time with you'". It's not that he's saying unjustified things, it's just rude things that shouldn't be said. It's not something you want a potential partner to say foremost, like, "what is your view on abortion."

Too many of these independent, single women of whom you write are *too* independent to be anything other than single.

Let's be honest, people want to be wanted. You even noted this in your list in item 3. If a woman is completely self-contained and doesn't need a man, why would any guy want to force himself into her life without reason or invitation? Most independent women go to great lengths to obscure any hint of vulnerability in themselves. They end up wearing a thick veneer of 'fuck off' that serves as a powerful man repellent.

Most men have no problem sharing chores with and expressing desire for a woman. In other words, no item on your list is a dealbreaker in any sense. But y'all need to drop this tough girl act and have a willingness to let someone in, because most guys aren't masochists. We're not going to destroy ourselves trying to become a part of your lives.

I am a little disappointed in the quality of the comments. People are failing to realize that being independent doesn't mean you don't want or need love or companionship. Independent people want and need both but are capable of doing for themselves. You can be happy and satisfied with your life on your own but still be open to having a companion. And isn't that what a partner is - your companion?

@alonzoslade lol no not really. i wouldn't mind cleaning and cooking for my man and taking care of him but that doesn't mean that we can both get home after a long day of work and i have to go to the kitchen while he kicks back with a beer. it should be 50-50. i can honestly admit that i have no idea how the whole plumbing system in my house works or whats wrong with my car when it stops. it would be AMAZING if he helped me out but i can take care of it even when he's not there. i can't personally fix it but i can call someone else to fix it for me. maybe he wants to buy a new outfit and can't match the colors. i can help him of course but if im not there im sure he'll find someone else to help him. it doesn't mean we're stupid or needy. be more respectful of what you say to people. i never attacked you. if you're going to post something on my opinion then please take the time to explain yourself and be kind and respectful. you dont have to agree with me but you do have to be nice.

@alonzoslade no men do not need to pay for dates. if he wants to then sure and i'd be very happy but he doesn't NEED to. i hate it when women expect their men to buy them things all the time. i wouldn't let my man pay for me ALL the time. we can treat each other once in a while but i do think that costs should be split. making money is difficult for everyone. he's my man not my bank. im not saying that i would be offended if he payed but i would definitely offer to pay. he doesn't owe me anything but loyalty

It depends on culture. A lot of women, even in Western countries, grow up in traditional households where the girls are expected to help clean and cook at a very young age.
