The guys on GirlsAskGuys often complain that women are too choosy. Well, I think women deserve to be choosy, given that there are so many negative consequences of not being very selective.
1. Some men are not mature enough
Some men have bad lifestyle choices or habits. Smoking. Drinking alcohol. Playing video games. Living a sexually promiscuous lifestyle. These habits/choices are not regarded as "mature" or "healthy". They are very centered around the self. If one is too self-centered, then how can one focus on the needs of others?
2. Women generally invest more in reproduction than men
Most birth control methods/devices are targeted at the female reproductive system. Women have to replenish the uterine lining regularly, about every month. This costs energy and resources. Women also have to nourish the unborn child, as it is growing inside the mother. This also costs energy and resources, and leads to the birth of the child. After birth, women do the breastfeeding, and this process may be weaned at any time during the toddler stage of development. Because women generally invest more in reproduction than men, they should be choosy about the partner. Men who cannot provide support for the entire process of childrearing would not make good parents.
3. Women can only carry one gestation during pregnancy and limited supply of eggs, while men can theoretically fertilize hundreds of women and produce sperm indefinitely
During pregnancy, women can typically carry one gestation. Throughout her lifetime, she only has a limited supply of eggs, and this limited supply of eggs is given to her since her life as a tiny fetus. This limited supply of eggs decrease as the woman ages, and eventually becomes completely gone by menopause, rendering the woman infertile. Therefore, without reproductive assisting technologies (which can be expensive), women's ideal age of reproduction is in their teens and twenties. This may pose a problem for modern women worldwide, as women are now delaying marriage and childbirth to pursue education and a career and can no longer rely on men to support them. Women deserve to be choosy in choosing a partner, because some men don't want to marry women who are old, wrinkly, less attractive, and infertile. Old men and women may take inspiration from Abraham and Sarah from the Bible, and learn how to cope with their oldness, childlessness, and infertility.
In contrast, men can theoretically fertilize hundreds of women and produce sperm indefinitely. The greater reproductive capacity allows men to postpone marriage without much concern about the consequences of their biological/reproductive potential. Therefore, men don't have to be choosy, if they don't want to.
4. Women become more attractive, when they are choosy
This may be based on hearsay, but I've read women become more attractive as a partner, when they are more choosy. This may be compared to a job search. People have an easier time finding a job, when they are already employed, because employers like choosiness. When potential employers detect desperation or non-choosiness, that decreases the likelihood of the person getting hired. So, if the prospective employee gives the impression that he/she wants the job but is not desperate for any kind of job, then he/she may have a better chance of getting employed/hired, as well as retain a bit of self-respect and dignity. Likewise, if a woman is sizing up men for an ideal husband, then that may be more attractive, because then the men have to work to woo her. If the woman gives everything, including sex, to a random guy on the street, then the random guy would disrespect her like an ordinary slut, and marriage would never be mentioned.
