Some may say this sounds sad, pathetic, it's a trick, blah blah blah, but this is how it is.
I have always been quite shy when it comes to women and don't have great social skills with ones that aren't friends. I never had a female friend that I hung out with until my second year in college. I'm not awkward, just shy. Since then, any close female friend that I have, I have the strong urge to ask to see them naked. I talked to a counselor about it, and she said that since I have little experience in the dating department, I see nudity in a friend as a feeling of trust and intimacy that I don't have in my life.
I won't lie, part of it is sexually-based: they are attractive friends. But it is really about how good of friends they are, and if they did this for me, it would satisfy many needs of closeness that I don't have.
I have asked two close friends about this- one said yes, and did let me see her for a few minutes. She and I are still good friends, and a weight on our friendship has been lifted.
Another friend said yes, then changed her mind back and forth many times, ultimately settling on no. I understood, but afterwards, I did feel hurt, and she felt awkward around me. Now, we aren't friends.
There are others I wish I could ask, but am way too afraid. I could just shut up about it and deal, but then I find myself withdrawing from the friendship anyways, which also hurts.
I know how this must sound to many of you reading this, but it has been something I've been carrying around for years. Should I risk bringing it up with other friends, or just stay quiet and hope we stay friends? I'm also worried they'd think I'm lying about it JUST to see them naked.

So girls, would you ALLOW a good guy friend that you trust see you naked?

To me nudity in front of a man represents intimacy of the highest degree. There is no way in hell a guy friend could ever be that intimate with me. Only other women who don't give a crap about my body and my boyfriend could see me naked. No one else.

Male friends can only be friends with me if our relationship is kept platonic and with a certain degree of respectful distance. If they get too close and intimate, the friendship merges into some friendzone nonsense I can never accept.

The last thing I would ever do with a male friend is be intimate in this way.

I have no problem changing in front of my friends at college, guys and girls, because I am just that close to them. I'm never completely naked, they just might see me in my underwear, but it's also not awkward because they are not sitting there staring at my body. If I felt like one of my friends was staring at me then I would feel uncomfortable around them.

I think the counselor guessed it right, I would think the same about the reason behind it. However, you shouldn't overcome this by actually getting women naked in front of you, they were definitely not looking for a friendship that includes this side of the things I guess, even worse if they are dating someone. I think you should rather work on getting a girlfriend than trying to get a naked friend (who is meant to stay a friend), also because friendship is generally not meant to pass through this "ritual" and there shouldn't be this need, so your perception of what a friendship is might not coincide with theirs, and push them away because of that, even (not just because of nudity itself). Plus, closeness is proven by facts during the friendship itself, not by being naked in front of you. If they are there when you need, they are honest, respectful, share experiences together and proven to be reliable... Well that is what should refill your needs of closeness and that demonstrates the most of that, not a random naked body which doesn't mean anything itself, unless you want to invalidate friendships by reducing their importance on this thing, as if all the rest doesn't really matter... Well that would be a really poor friendship to be honest.
Said that: I think you shouldn't creep the other friends out, but to aim at actual proofs of closeness and trust that you develop together over time.

Replying to your question: in theory I would do that, but that is not for a good reason. I would do that because I have simply not such modesty or no problems in being naked in general. It wouldn't mean "connection" to me at all, it wouldn't be "important", and if the guy means it like "connection" I'd feel like I'm giving him a delusion of some sort because for me it's not the same, so it doesn't feel right in general. I would express I want that level of intimacy and that we unlocked some next level, but I wouldn't want to cover such expectations of closeness afterwards. And this is why I wouldn't do that, in the end.

I'm going to say... that this is overall a bad idea. This is an odd addition of "the sexual" into a friendship. I think that in most cases, it's going to be detremental to your friendship. Part of a woman trusting a guy as a friend, is feeling safe from having to wory about that guy friend getting sexual. It lets a woman relax, and actually be your friend.

I donno... this just seems like an odd request that's likely to make things weird. To be honest, I'm really really surprised that your one friend was fine with it, and that it hasn't harmed your friendship. I wouldn't expect that to be something you're able to repeat.

Now, I don't think that your overall thinking on this is off-track. I can appreciate the logic in the approach that you're taking. I don't think it's inherently wrong. I just think that doing it THIS WAY is a bad plan.

If you're relying on the trust you've built between you to hope that they "understand" where you're coming from, and will let you see them naked... I think that this is basically just the wrong way to go about it.

If you were to ask a close female friend if she would be willing to help you explore sexually. You can see her naked as a part of it. But... it's just a little less creepy (and something that a woman is more likely to feel good about) if you pitch the idea of adding sex into your friendship rather than ask them to let you see them naked.

It's sexual. That's fine. But if that's the case, then make it FULLY sexual. Sexual in a way in which your friend feels closeness to you TOO. Right now, you're asking to have your needs met... in a way that's inherently a bit weird for someone (anyone). I mean... it's kinda weird to ask if someone can stare at you naked. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to. I still think you should. But as A PART of a broader sexual experience with that friend.

I can relate to you. Before I met my wife, I felt lonely all the time, and I developed an unhealthy lust for intimacy. I'd be willing to be very intimate with only mild friends, and I would see basic friendly behaviour as a sign of a potential romance.

As I discovered with my wife, this lust for intimacy was actually off-putting to women, and was itself the reason why I had never had a relationship before my wife.

So here's my suggestion: don't ask to see any more girls naked. If you have a sexual interest in a girl, ask them out on a date. They're either going to say yes or no: if they say yes, great; if they say no, then you can move on from obsessing about them, which will be good for you. Either way, ask, and then respect their choice, because what girls need is for their decisions to be respected; don't ever ask again. It's possible that one of your old friends would say yes, but it's much more likely that it will need to be someone you don't know very well.

In the future, don't wait months and months before asking a girl out, just to be sure they're the right one; treat dating as a casual thing, where both you and the girl can decide if you're right for one another. Without the weight of a past friendship or relationship hovering over a date, they'll be more likely to say yes, and it won't mean as much to you if they say no. Eventually, one of these dates will lead to a relationship, and then that woman will fill your need for intimacy, and you'll be able to see her naked all you want.

So I would not. Unfortunately, I've had some really bad experiences with guys. Even the ones that didn't try anything at the time, they stare, or try something later, or our friendship changes irreparably. I am willing to do a quick wardrobe change as long as the underclothes stay on, but even bare breasts are a no-go for guy friends. I wish it were different, because I'm not a shy or shameful person, and you're right that it should be a level of trust and intimacy that you can share platonically with friends. Your best and safest bet would be to have like, maybe a skinny dipping party? Then, at least, the nudity is laid bare (pun intended) at the start. And if they don't RSVP, then you know that boundary isn't for them, and you don't press it.

Also, if you do ever discuss this, try discussing it in a group setting. I understand that that likely feels more shameful, but then no one person feels targeted or singled out, where a one on one convo can make some feel cornered and preyed upon.
