How long is too long to be "just friends " with a girl?

I usually don't ask out girls on my first meeting with them. I usually just talk to them when I see them then ask them out at a later date. Now I want to know know how long after meeting a guy would he have to ask you out before it's a lost cause

I lose interest in being more than friends after a few months... this isn't to be nasty it's just because I like to have a name for everything and I don't like anything on the fence so to speak so if it's a friend then after a while it just sticks I think I do that so I'm not in limbo

If I really like the guy it's never a lost cause but if I only kinda like him well it would depend on the guy if he's shy I would wait longer than if he's very bold
