"The quiet ones are the most dangerous" how true do you think it is?

Until recently I never thought much about the quote... I got engaged to my boyfriend of 4 years 5 days ago... As a normal girl would, I told my 5 closest friends about it, going on about the ring, the diamond, etc... Today I met them and other friends and they all gave me weird looks... not my closest friends but the others... then I was told that one of my friends told everyone that we're getting married so soon because I'm pregnant!
This is not true... we've had sex before but always protected. I was really shocked because she is the really nice type. Quiet, shy, reserved but always friendly, ready to lend a hand, ear or shoulder. She wasn't one of the ones I gave a call to as soon as I got engaged but that was because five phone calls later it was already 3am and I'm not as close with her as the others.
Why do you think she did this? And how true do you think that quote is?

Its true a lot of times, but of course not always. Really quiet people keep their thoughts and feelings to themselves and can be hard to read because of limited expression sometimes. (for most people trying to read them anyway) A lot of serial killers and psychopaths are also quiet introverts really, very focused on covering themselves or creating a fake but pleasant image for those around them but not really thriving on social energy in the same way that extroverts do or connecting, or they just exist in quiet seclusion, more or less. The quiet kid sitting by himself at lunch everyday is far more likely to come shoot up the school than the popular kid who's busy talking to everyone and being extremely social. no absolute rules, but likelihoods.

And its also true in less lethal situations. Anyone can backstab you, but people who keep more to themselves seem especially prone. They don't always have tone quiet though - just hiding something or not saying something about how they feel about you.

as to why she did it? obviously jealousy and maybe she was hurt that you didn't tell her. I know what you mean though. its hard for me to feel as close with my really quiet friends. They barely let you in and its like a fight to have the same openness and closeness or even depth of intellectual and emotional connection that you do with more talkative people.

the quiet part is a correlation, not necessary the root of it. id say that really quiet people might also tend to be insecure and that insecurity or lack of confidence may make some prone to jealousy. and some people are just nasty. Nasty, jealous people come in a variety of volume settings. the quiet, nasty people are far more sneaky though. being a nasty, loud, talkative person only works up to a point. but if you keep your mouth shut and backstab quietly, while maintaining a "nice, friendly" persona? golden.

There can be some reasons why she did that, she could be jealous. And its not necessary if she is quiet.
Opened people tend to say everything what is their minds. But quiet ones listen, but say nothing, it may look that they hide something. But its not true. im the one, but im not dangerous. Just dont like talking when its not necessary. People are different, dont jugde them how they act

She's probably jealous... and as for the quote, yeah, I say it's true. The shyest, most quiet people I've known have been the biggest pain for me, because they never said what they meant to my face, and gossiped about me instead. That's too much for my very straightforward mind to process.

I'd say jealousy. Or maybe she wasn't that good of a friend you thought she was. As for the quote, I'd say sometimes, but it's not always true. Some people are just naturally quiet people. Then there are the quiet ines who like to start shit cuz there isn't enougb drama for them. My favorite quote..."keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer"

but i don't understand why. my closest friends, we were together for more than 7 years. even in a big group we always stuck together. she sort of joined our little group 3 years ago... honestly i don't see why she should be jealous...
do you think i should cut ties or try mend things over?

Jealous because you get engaged and she didn't, or because you got a great man any girl dream about there is many thing can make a girl jealous and hate or try to hurt another girl and believe me she will try more then speared rumor about you so cut ties before thing get more worse then rumor don't cut all thing in one time but little by little and make it as if you are busy or something specially if she doesn't have a stable relationship or she doesn't have any boyfriend does type of girls you most be careful from.

that makes sense i guess... i know that she had a crush on my fiance before we got together. she was really upset when he asked me out.
i hope she doesn't do anything worse... she's such a nice person, i hate the fact that i can see cutting ties with her is for the best...

I Know how do you feel but you need to put lines for everything it's not about you right now it's become about 2 people here you and your man and you have to try to protect him, you said she had a crush on him before and that is a good reason for anything she will do in the future I wish you good luck and really happy that you find a man for lifetime ^^ take care of him and don't be to worried ^^ much worried can infect your relationship with him and in my opinion tell him what did happen just in case.. because you know girls they can do anything and everything and am sorry if I did make u stress or worried :(
