But these terms, we learn them from SOMEWHERE.
When do people learn to identify as a "TOMBOY"?
When do people learn that they ought to categorize themselves in some regard?
I think it's from the time they're small
Society has a set of things girls do and a set of things boys do
If you're a girl and you like car racing and baggy clothes, you're a tomboy. And if you like doing your nails and shopping, you're a girl. It's the kind of social conditioning that's with us from the time we're born and start interacting with the outside world.
It's like how you give blue to boys and pink to girls. There's a clear SOCIAL distinction drawn.
When do they learn the word "TOMBOY"
When their parents/society tells them?
I'm pretty sure it's not their parents, though, My parents never told me how to identify myself.
It's not something they say like "you're a tomboy" it's something that comes out during conversation. Like. If I wouldn't want to try on better fitting/pretty bras, my mum would be like "oh I know you're a tomboy, but you need to try them!" Sometimes the word tomboy doesn't even need to be reiterated because everyone knows it anyway
I have no idea, but I am a bit of both and I know many other women who are also. I love to fish, go camping, toss around a football, shoot hoops, occasionally play video games dress in jeans and a t-shirt, but I also love to dress up, paint my nails, do my hair and make-up and be treated like a lady. I hate that people think you have to be one or the other. I will never put myself in any sort of box. Screw labels.
I identified with tomboy when I was around 8. I identify as that because I like guy typical things and I act guy typical. It's just what's typical, typically girls clothes and calm activities whereas guys typically do not. Although of course this doesn't mean all boys or girls act in regards to what other boys or girls like. For some who doesn't like labels you really seemed to be hooked them.
Integrals get weird when you're substituting stuff to find the arc tangent. Polynomials are easy-peasy :P
So at 8, people already know what "tomboy" means?
I don't really categorise people but I'm assuming people learn it from their family, parents in particular. I knew I was a tomboy when my parents would remark on my interest in cars and video games. That's how I learnt about the word and its meaning. I started labelling myself as a tomboy in high school.
i guess they do it because they don't want 2 know what other personality type shall they choose basically
What are 'personality types' anyways
here in GAG i mean
ohhh
I think those are just stereotypes! everyone is different no matter the gender :)
well of course
but when do they learn the stereotypes
and where
yes and no, "just society" does not explain what the exact source of the information is :P
Although I admit, I learned from SOMEWHERE what "girls are supposedly like" and how they're "fragile" and stuff. I think it's either genetic memory, or something you learn by watching sitcoms and hearing the male-centric stories with white knights on white horses or some stuff.
We're socialized to be sexist and to identify ourselves with arbitrary terms that hold no meaning and just holds us back from our true potential!

Women who identify as tomboys usually identify themselves as tomboys. No one else usually calls them that but themselevs. They are the ones who decide that they are not like other girls and that they like doing what guys do.
"Girly" or "lady like" are terms I've learned at a very young age from my mom. When I realized I don't fit either of them, I wanted to find out if there was a term of a me type girl.
i learned "tomboy" from my mom. but in her country it refers to lesbians.
oh okay
When their mom takes them to get make up the first time, or their dad takes them fishing...
Lol that picture is true though 😂
