Why do girls suddenly take their socks off?

I was at a female friend´s house yesterday. There was about 5 girls and later in the night one by one was taking their socks off. They were just chatting in the couch and they put up their feet and pull out their socks.
I dont know much about women but is this normal for women?
Do you take them off when you want to feel comfy?

No, not all women do this. I take off my socks at some point in the night when I'm over a friend's house. Of course, I only do it when my feet look presentable, haha. I am not the hugest fan of socks, so I don't really like to wear them anyway. I will take mine off at some point when I feel comfortable enough to, but I know plenty of girls who refuse to do so.

Maybe they just took them off because they just felt like doing so? It doesn't necessarily have to be greatly common among all women. Well I myself hate wearing socks because they make me feel hot , I actually prefer being barefoot. So I'd take them off as soon as I get the chance to

It depends on where and whom I am with , I would do it as long as it wouldn't seem awkward nor impolite of me

I hate socks so I take them off ASAP. My feet control my body temp, so if they're hot then I'm hot, etc.

I don't wear socks like ever and when I do I take my shoes off and then my socks. Socks aren't my thing.

I hate socks, especially when I am asleep. Makes my feet feel suffocated kind of.
