I go out almost every day with a group of 5 other people, 4 of which are also 18-19 like me, and then we have a 24 year old girl that is my friend's sister.
Recently, I've noticed that this girl is trying to do everything to get me into arguing with her, and it's starting to getting annoying. I'm well informed in most subjects, and in some of them I'm very informed. So when people get into an argument with me, I either don't know very much about the subject at hand, or I know almost everything there is to know about it.
If it's about something I only know the basics of (say, cars), then eventually I give up because I can't argue with someone who likes cars. I may talk a little about why I prefer old Land Rovers to the new ones, but if the person starts showing resistance, I'm forced to say "I'm gonna take your word for it because you know a lot more about this than I do, but I'll do my own research some other time". However, there are other subjects (say, physics) where I feel totally comfortable arguing and it takes a lot for me to back down since I know I am right in what I say (if I start having doubts I can stop until I research a bit more).
What happened lately is that the 24 year old decided to test my knowledge on nutriction (something she studied as a part of her course and work life as a pharmacist). I studied it while I was at college and did a 67-page work on it so I was able to stand my ground and prove her wrong showing facts and studies. Ever since that happened, it's impossible for me to have a conversation around her.
Every time I say something, even if I'm talking to one of the guys, she jumps in and disagrees with me and starts to bait me into an argument. It's really annoying because I don't like to argue that much. For example, if I say "My driving instructor was mean and refused to teach me anything" she jumps in out of nowhere and starts blaming that on me, saying I'm stubborn or that it was only his job or whatever.
How do I deal with this
