Why are modern women so selfish?

Sometims I feel bad to be a woman. I wish I were a woman from the older days because women these days have no respect for men even those who work hard to give them a roof over their heads...

Just a generalization made by men who have been hurt by a woman, resulting in them being bitter at all women as a whole. Not all modern women are selfish.
Yes, women back in the day showed a huge amount of respect to men, but for some different reasons.

At one point in time, women were literally dependent on men. Unable to work, men were counted on the support the family/household. If your well-being relies on someone, of course you'll be extremely respectful towards them. Not that modern women aren't respectful, of course. The dynamic simply shifted towards being a bit more equally distributed.

The dynamic isn't working at all anymore with marriages now being a minority and that is heavily weighted on past generations and past arrangements.

Instead of relying upon men to support them women today have to support themselves as single moms if they have kids at all. While men are left to be playboys working only for themselves, or not working at all.

This is your new "Equally distributed" dynamic.

Make fun all you want but the reality is today more and more women are struggling single mothers, or old maids, while the men are playboys who work for themselves alone, if they work at all.

The current arrangement is even more unfair and oppressive, while also in a rapid state of collapse along with the birthrate.

Men and women are not equals, and overall the end of marriage arrangement has put women in a terribly unfair position of doing it all.

I have met many women and men who are selfish and unfortunately we can't generalize. You know, my mum's school friend got married a long time ago when she was young about 17 i think and she was forced in marriage by her parents and my mum did not like her husband... he used to hit and abuse her and she would come to my mum for help and i still remember her face vaguely when i was much younger. I think in a way modern women have become more independant which is a good thing but yes i agree you do get many PEOPLE who are selfish. :)

Modern women have become a lot more independent. The census proves it, the Married are now a minority.
That means younger generations are largely unmarred leaving modern women on their own to do everything by themselves.

If the have kids at all (The birth rate has collapsed), a large share of them will have no real commitment of support from the father for anything at all.

Instead a majority of men today work only for themself if they work at all. A minority of them play the sexual street taking advantage of unmarried woman after woman.

This more "equal arrangement" is anything but equal in practice, and it is even less stable.

1. Female are being fed they are the best and beautiful from men constantly hitting up their FB/online profile and calling them goddess. This ego boost goes to their head that they look down on men.

2. Many women today are fed by the media of looking at what a man can do for them, and never address what they need to bring to the table to keep a man.

3. Many women have abandon gender roles that help stabilize relationship.

4. In general people have become more narcissistic and selfish.

Its not one sided, men too have issues with how modern technology screws with their heads. Neither sex ever evolved to deal with what is now both possible and normal.

Evolution cares about 1 thing, having as many successful kids as possible.
For women biology makes this a time consuming high risk process that benefits from and requires support. So evolution drives their brains to seek out such support and commitment.

Unfortunately in the modern world they are confronted with millions of empty promises and potential suitors online to the effect of cheapening the very real men they do have. Which naturally makes it rather difficult for them to hold onto them.

Men too are effected by this same issue, however our biology/culture however is a little more compatible as men have always had to deal with such temptation.

Boys today suffer more in other areas from modern technology/culture.

Women represent a diverse group so you can't say anything is true of all of them.

Still as a group many if not most of younger women are:
1: Perhaps showered with too much attention and praise at an early age for their own good. (A product of modern technology)
2: Blessed/Cursed with a level of freedom the natural/cultural dispositions of the Female sex never evolved (for lack of history) to handle responsibility.

The combination of both issue has a resulted a rather dysfunctional arrangement now more often than not results in break up.

With women normally ending up doing all the work for herself and children if she can afford to have any at all (Birth rates have collapsed).

While men on the other hand work for themselves alone, if they work at all (most men need very little to be happy). A minority of men are now players taking advantage of the large number of "single" women. No doubt giving men as a whole a bad name.

This "More equal" arrangement is in truth extremely unfair and as modern demographic numbers prove it is also extremely unstable, so it won't last.

We will either abandon it or collapse as a culture.

I think it's the problem with culture, upbringing and society which makes all these double standards. Men don't need any special respect or treatment or anything of that sort above women. We just need EQUALITY -- the thing that most feminists boast of making, and do just the opposite
