What they really look like:
Is there a trick?
Ever seen a movie shot in one take with no editing, screenplay, lighting, makeup, or payed actors? Probably not. Most films like that are buried at home in someone's personal film collection. Only a select few hit the Internet and those are usually just lucky accidents. That's because people live real life everyday. Real life is mundane. It's not eye catching. Selfies are the same way. A normal everyday selfy without any kind of angling, lighting, makeup or editing taken in one shot is probably going to look mundane and unexciting meaning not only will no one respond to seeing it but the girl her self won't even be impressed enough by it to care about it. Selfies are purposefully orchestrated to show someone as "better" than what they usually are much like TV, movies, magazines, speeches, and any other form of media you can think of all the way down to the pictures of food on a fast food drive through menu.
Watch The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance. Very long takes like 10 mins or longer also good acting.
They can do anything they want to the image after they find one that they like. In real life there aren't any filters, any different angles to make you look more appealing, or perfect lighting. They have make-up, but that only does so much. It's basically 3D vs. 2D.
Common she is still beautiful. (in the pic above)
But responding to ur question, sometimes some women might choose the perfect set in order to have the perfect pic. For example. Makeup, Clothing style, hairstyle and a good location with physical light.
Oh stop she's human do you want her to permanently have that fake smile plastered on her face everywhere she goes?
Anyway lighting, angles, filters etc etc and in extreme cases Photoshop.

Maybe it's just me but she looks the same in all 3 pictures. You can tell it's obviously the same person. I think she is very pretty.

lighting, angle of the camera, tits out/in focus, stomach inn, angle of the body, and of course they take the best of n number of images. oh and make-up
What this guy said plus you can still photoshop.
You need some glasses- she's very attractive even in the "bad" photos.
Your answer is that western culture places way too much importance on what women look like- To the point where it determines their social status. Listen to how people describe women: pay attention and you'll notice a pattern.
Lol.. maybe cuz they Photoshop? I would say the opposite, a lot of girls I see irl are better looking than in pics. I have the same issue, if I make a photo it mostly comes out uglier. Someone told me its because of the front face cam but I guess it also depends on the light and angle.
its true.
duck face changes facial structure a lot
She's still pretty and looks like the same person lol, I'm confused. The only difference is she's further away.
It's all about angles and lighting but that example was terrible.
You are very pretty, but ican look totatly different sometimes with my sefies
lighting, angles, filters, the 3d vs 2d... also, pictures are usually meant to take the best looking snapshot of them at that moment. not in general.
They take 100 selfies to find the right one and they use filters
Lol This one chick on tinder looked wayyy too different irl and when I asked her about pics, she told me that it was 6 months ago lol Whale alert
"With us guys"...
But you're a girl...

The lighting, angle & filters.
She looks the same in all pictures
in my opinion most people look way better irl.
Yeah it's called taking forever to take a pic

i'm saying they don't. or at least i've never noticed it.
