Why do girls wear crop tops then hide their belly button?

I have seen this a lot from female friends and girls when out - they pull up their jeans/bottoms if their belly button is about to show. I haven't got an issue of course but I think it's rather counter productive, if you wear a stomach revealing outfit, why hide half of it lol?
Maybe the belly button is sacred or you girls see it as sexual? Especially when most now go through the effort of having a belly button piercing, presumably to show off.

Please shed some light on my ignorance lol (preferably girls), thank you!

I don’t know why they do, but I hate it to death. If girls are gonna wear a crop top and add high-waisted pants with to the outfit to cover the belly button, it’s just as redundant to wearing a normal shirt, and it’s ugly. I can’t describe my frustration with it, but I just like belly buttons, and hate seeing high waisted pants.

I 100% agree with your statement. It’s annoying to see. And it makes their torso look really odd. If you’re gonna cover it cause you’re worried about how it looks then just don’t wear a crop top. Also I would like to know why so many girls like wearing high wasted pants? Even if you’re skinny it gives you fupa. And high waisted jeans flatten your butt ladies. Mom jeans and high wasted throw back baggy jeans are not attractive and I don't know how they came back in to fashion. As a kid who grew up in the early 90’s I can tell women this. If you think wearing mom jeans is attractive it’s not. Cause it makes you look like all of our moms in the 90’s who walked around in them and that’s not a thought we want when looking for a girl to get with. I also understand lots of girls say we don’t dress for men. And that’s fine but please explain to me why you think they look good? Cause I’ve never seen any that I think are flattering on anyone.

well some girls, i actually think many girls, carry a little extra weight in the little pouch area right below the belly button. i try to keep my pants up around my belly button to hide the little pouch of chub that's there haha

Crop tops are cute and open, and then when you cover the belly button, it's either to hide fat, or to show off the curves by keeping the curves in one section of clothing/non clothing.

I 100% agree it doesn’t make sense and if you’re worried about stomach showing then wear a shirt that’s not a crop top. I’m sorry. Not to be rude but then you just get fupa in your jeans and it’s not attractive. High waisted jeans don’t hide your belly I don't know why so many girls think it does. And it makes you look like you have an oddly shaped torso. Also mom jeans and high wasted jeans can girls please explain to me why they love these jeans that give all body types fupa and make your butt look flat?

I love to wear very short cute little crop tops that show all of my tummy and I wear them all of the time to all kinds of places. I almost always wear skirts with my short tops and I never cover my belly button. I have belly button jewelry that I want everyone to see and I like to wear belly chains too.
