Girls, why do girls look away when caught looking?

I consider myself decent looking and when I'm on the street girls would look away when I catch them looking at me. It's like when I look at a direction and if suddenly a girl looks away I would catch them looking away, It's funny because I probably wouldn't notice them looking at all if they hadn't looked away. Probably 80% of the people who does this to me are girls who are my age and my skin colour. The remaining 20% composite of guys, children or elders, or girls who are not my skin colour.

Why do girls do that? Has anyone here experienced this as well?

Part of me thinks this is an ego thing. To be the first one looking is a terrible thing for a lady. It cuts at her! It puts her whole magical power over man into question. Men normally stare at her with the same kind of stoic composition of a puppy. 'Who is this sod who won't even bat an eyelid in my general direction, this lofty male, I must be a lesser creature, I must look, what is going on.' This is the internal female monologue. So nothing good can come of putting oneself in a weaker position, she looks away!

Yeah, if they look away then it's more likely that they were looking at you, especially if they were wearing sunglasses but still looked away. Guys do this too though.

If I stare at someone because I have a crush or something like that, and gets caught I emediately look away because I think it's embarrassing.

I would not want people to think I like a person because I'm worried what they might think.

That sounds like something I would do if I was looking in a certain direction and a guy locked eyes with me. I think, oh shit! He must think i fancy him, I look away immediately, I don't want to give him the wrong impression.

i sometimes cought myself staring at someone and mentioned it only when they start to look at me back... and so i look away immediately.

Staring at someone is generally frowned upon. They also may just have been lost in thought and kinda became aware of what they were doing when you looked at them.

I think it's just like an awkward part to be in lol you could just be looking at that direction but the person locks eyes on you and you lock eyes back and just think "oh shit" lol

Because women like to high ground in sex/relationship and not appear interested in you so they have all these funny maneuvers such as whiffing back their hair and whatnot while checking you out.

So this, yes, you understand the female male dynamic. Even females don't understand it. They must be aloof. If not, something seriously awry is going on. They must not lower themselves! The man must vie for her attention. He must be persistent, composed, confident, if he's to win his prize. We see it even in nature.

Some girls do it because they may be shy or if they fancy you they may feel
embarrassed. Most of the time us girls are self-conscious and hope that you guys don't see us looking and feel embarrassed.
