People do so because everybody wants to look at their very best, besides the best versions of themselves. So I don't believe it has anything to do with guys. And besides she is your friend, so your less likely to judge her and she trusted you. If you feel there is a significant meaning to it, just ask her up front why she does that.
Well, teen girls tend to be self-conscious, at our age and all. So if she likes the picture of herself, she will probably show it off. Think about it: if you were to show somebody a picture of yourself, you might want it to make you appear more charming than goofy/weird. Well, us girls feel this way generally anyway.
I think most girls only send selfies when they look good. Like so many girls only go outside when they wear make-up.
For me it depends on who I am going to send it to. I can send selfies with a prominent double chin to friends, as long as it's not someone I like.
When they're not comfortable with you yes. I myself don't usually send selfies to people I am not comfortable with looking like a slob.
They usually only send good selfies to you if they like you. If they are just your freind then they will send what ever they take.

I have a good friend who sends them to EVERYONE... she is a total snap chat whore. Most of her friends are guys except for me and 3 other of our girlfriends and her 2 sisters... she has like 15 close guy friends. They all send selfies too eachother... I don't get it but apparently it doesn't mean anything.
When I'm first talking to a guy, I send cute selfies because I want to make a good impressions. But the goal is to reach the comfort level where I can send HORRIBLE snapchat videos and picture using the ugliest filters and still know he's into me.
Depends how close you are, if your a super good friend than it doesn't matter but for the most part chicks like to look good in their selfie snaps for guys
