Why do girls ask guys "What are you doing later?" "What are you doing tonight?" or "What are you doing this weekend?" etc?

I know it depends on the situation and girl, but can you give a general idea of what it means in different situations? Like sometimes it could mean you are being nice, or sometimes you want a guy to ask you out or maybe just for conversation etc.

When girls ask these kind of questions it is there way of hinting to you that

1. They want you to ask them to hang out and do something
2. They want you to ask what THEY are doing so they can brag and impress you with their weekend plans

literally these are the only options. Decide which one and ur good to go my friend.

Wait so I had an time at the Nike store when the cashier stared at me with her other worker and then when I checked out she seemed really nice and happy and smiled and asked what I was doing after and unfortunately since I have hella anxiety as it is I said “I’m just chilling how about you “ and she said just working what to say?
