How many times should a guy initiate the conversation to know if a girl likes him?

so I met this girl who's a friend of one of my friends, we were 5 guys and she was the only girl but at the end she only asked for my number and then we exchanged numbers. Cuz am a guy I initiated the first conversation but she suggested that we go to the gym together someday. So should I wait for her to initiate the 2nd conversation or should I start the conversation again

I'd do it just three times. I like the number three. First time is self-explanatory - it's the first. A second time is giving it another shot. And a third is doing so for one final time.

A fourth would be hitting a head against the wall.
