Why do girls catch feelings after a one night stand?

I'm pretty cold hearted at least because of my past. I can move on from guys really fast (before I had emotional attachment issues). Anyways I hooked up with a guy and had a pregnancy scare for 8 days. I had no feelings for this guy (hardly knew him), my friends even asked me if I wanted to date him and I said no. After all this I don't know why but I can't stop thinking about him. Does this mean I caught feelings?
TMI but it's the time of the month so that maybe messing with my emotions as well.

Only a small portion of women are well suited for casual sex, if you are not one of those people you need to be honest with your self about that and refrain from that activity. This is especially true if a long term successful relationship, like getting married and it lasting, is something you want in life.

From CDC statistics, if the first person a woman has sex with is her husband there is an 80% chance they make it. If her husband is the second man she has had sex with that drops 50% chance of success, then continues to drop until it bottoms out at 16% chance of success once she has had 6 sexual partners. We don't know why this happens but it does. This trend is not seen in men.

From an evolutionary standpoint, it was bound to happen. Not only does fear mimic attraction, but the release of chemicals in your brain also has an effect. oxytocin and dopamine are released causing an attachment of sorts. Also, where reproduction is concerned, women connect because you would be pregnant for 9 months. It is a big time commitment, so a little help would go a long way!

I think it is because of the commitment you would have. Reproduction for guys is easy, they don't have anything tying them to their partners. Monogamous relationships are simply moral constructs. Mother nature dictates that men spread their genes far and wide. Women are therefore tasked with being choosy. When you let him in your bubble (especially since it was considered a casual fling), he was able to do his natural business.

With your pregnancy scare, it became real to your brain that you will have a commitment. From what I understand, pregnancy is long and hard.

I would go with PMS trying to make you lose your mind. Having a pregnancy scare is bad enough but having it with a one night stand! Horrible. Your brain was probably trying to think of every good thing you know about said dude and make sure your life wasn't going to fall to shit. Then you get Aunt flow and bam! Hormones like a bitch which can make any circumstance seem much more attached then it normally would. Just give it some time and you'll go right back to feeling the way you did before all this happened 🤗

Thank the lord! I'm definitely more heartless than I was before. Experience really changes a person. That experience is going to make me lay off hook ups forever. The hook up culture is totally not worth it for me. Next time the STD or pregnancy test can come out +...

Well girls are usually able to hookup with guys who are better looking than they are and I think it makes it more likely for them to catch feelings. Guys are more likely to be downgrading when they are hooking up and they know they could find more attractive girls for a relationship so that makes it easier to not get attached.

It depends on what you're searching for.

There're guys (about 20% in my experience, a little more in films etc..) that seem to live to have sex. And everything models around it in their lives.
The other guys don't. Usually they:
1) Aren't interested in a relationship (5%)
2) Are looking for a relationship (30%)
3) Are in a relationship and aren't willing to cheat (easily at least)(25%)
4) Simply get what's on the moment (10%)
5) Others minor categories to catch all the cases (10%)

Take a guy from one of these 5 categories (except the ones in a relationship). It is usually about 70% the probability that they feel something for the gal they bang that night.

Your final probability is 0.7 * 0.55 that is somewhat close to 37%.

Well, I usually do anyway. And that's a bad thing most of the times.
