There this shy girl I noticed last quarter. I was really confident that she was showing all the signs of interest or at least heavy attraction. She would stare at me when I'm not looking (sometimes playing with her hair), steal glances, blush when I look at her, smile and/or look down when we make eye contact, react when my name is said, etc.
At the end of the quarter, knowing this I tried to boost her confidence by complimenting her personality: "it seems like you have a lovely personality and intelligent insight in class" and I made it known that I'd like to get to know her. Keep in mind this is the first time I've showed interest in her. She said that I'm kind but she's not looking for a relationship right now. I genuinely told her that I understand and I'll respect her and her wishes. For the record I think she was telling the truth because she has school and athletic obligations but I didn't want to pry.
Now it's next quarter and she's avoiding me like the plague. I feel bad that she has to do this after telling her I'd respect her. But it's bothering me seeing this. I realized that one of our classes is in the same building-let's just say she'd stare at me from afar and avoid me. I also noticed while in the library she'd see me studying and then turn around and walk the other way. Both times she doesn't know that I noticed her/saw her.
I feel like I should say something to her? I'm not sure what she's thinking? Is she extremely shy/nervous after she figured out that I had interest too? What do I do?
