What does a guy actually mean when he calls his girlfriend "cute"?

That he thinks she's physically attractive in a "cute" way? If so, what makes a girl look cute?

Or is it that he thinks she has a "cute" personality/ she acts "cute"? (I don't know if there is such thing as a cute personality XD) If so, what constitutes a "cute" personality/cute behavior in a girlfriend?

Or is it a combo of the two above? Whatever it is, what makes a girl "cute" in any way? What does it mean when you call your girlfriend that? Does it mean that she's good "girlfriend material" or whatever? Or is it something akin to calling her beautiful, pretty, gorgeous, or hot? Or is it once again a combo of the above?

Or is it that every guy has his own meaning of the word, and uses it in slightly different ways?

Coz my boyfriend always calls me cute. Always. A few times, before we got together, he said I was pretty, and whenever I say I'm hot (temperature-wise), he says "well I can't deny that." But other than that, he always says I'm cute. Like when we're making out, or when we're cuddling after sex. Or sometimes he'll say it on facebook chat after I've said something, usually something random... I'm just curious what exactly he means by it, that's all X)

I would say that "cute" for me constitutes not only an adoration and endearment, (like one would a puppy, doll, etc), but more so on the "personal" factor that I can only describe as willingness/eagerness to be loved/cuddled/(spoiled?)/cherished. I can find a girl good-looking platonically, but the minute she starts giving me extra attention or contact, the word "cute" starts to come into mind. I don't know, it might be the singleness or virginity getting to me, but I would consider a girl "cute" if she doesn't mind or even looks forward to being with me/getting my attention. (Clingy and annoying is irrelevant if she is the right girl)

Beautiful is beautiful. Beautiful can be cute for wearing silly socks. Immaturity can be referred to as cute.
