My boyfriend said that he'll love me forever..... How do I know that I can trust him?

I am not really sure if there is such thing as love and it drives me up the wall when he says things like I'll never leave you or I'll love you forever because we are only 17 turning 18 this year and people change after they get out of high school and since he wants to go join the army... I don't see how he can make such unrealistic promises. When I ask him if he was serious and not just trying to flatter me he said that he is serious about it. ='( Can someone explain to me how I should take this because I don't know if I am being realistic or cynical or if I should trust him.

Well! My ex-boyfriend told me he wanted me to be the girl he married, and then he started ignoring me and left me.

My current boyfriend told me he loved me and always would 3 days into dating. It's been three years, he's been through army training (just got back home yesterday <3), and we're now getting married. And when he told me I was 16 turning 17.

If he says he loves you he loves you. You'll never know if he'll "love you forever", until you give it a shot. I wouldn't worry about the future so much, you should live more in the now.

I think really the question, though, is if YOU'LL love him forever and etc., because it seems like you aren't to sure about your relationship. It seems like you don't want something so serious right now, or aren't ready to be into something serious and get your heart broken.

If I were you I would sit down and think about your situation, your feelings, and what you want to do.

Only time will show if he is serious. Time will thest it. And problems will test ti as well. It is easy to promise things when you are happy. But don't dissmiss that.

The same thing has happened to me before and my past girlfriend felt the same way, love cannot be forced it has to happen naturally. if you believe he is worth commitment then see where it takes you but if you do take that route don't ever lie about mutual feelings. It's best to possibly say I don't feel comfortable with that being expressed this fast. I have similar feelings about you too but they are not that strong yet, etc
