Why block someone? What would be your reason...

Question

why is the reason that we block each other - it is just very interesting to know - I mean this is a site where we all place each others opinions and sometimes some of us may take it to heart but point being is why would you block someone? I didn't block anyone and I could care less about blocking someone especially since I don't know these people - who may live somewhere in China for all I know!

This guy blocked me and it's driving me nuts - what was the reason I would love to know!

I haven't blocked anyone yet. The only reason I would block someone is when we have a clash of opinions. Now by that I don't mean I will block them if their opinions differ from mine. What I mean is if it comes to the point where someone can't respect my opinion (no matter how different it is to theirs) and they feel the need to start getting into petty little wars of words with me on this website then I will block them because internet feuds can escalate from things that are so simple and small. I may not agree with other people's opinions but I will respect their opinions as it is their opinion and nobody else's. I didn't come on this website to get involved in immature arguments.

I agree, sometimes we can take answers to heart and people can get very moody if that happens.

I blocked a few spammers and delusional people like that guy and his wacky conspiracy theories a while back who would spam anyone who answered. Otherwise, I try not to block people. The trolls can be really funny at times and I just like to laugh.

He probably just didn't like your answer or they way you worded it, people can be really defensive if you can't be that "ideal person" that they speak about.

People that cannot answer my questions with logic and a mature response that may or may not disagree get blocked by me instantaneously ... You do not need to name call and demean the question asker.. It is a sign of immaturity.. I have posted several questions and answers that either agree or disagree and did not make the person feel stupid. I am seldom rarely ever rude or disrespectful. Some people need to learn to tastefully disagree. Closed minded prejudice, bias, racist, assholes get blocked period.

I blocked one person. Because he wouldn't stop talking about his little d*** ALL THE TIME. no matter how many times I told him to stop, he'd just keep talking about it, every time I came on here, he'd IM me asking if I remember how many inches he told me he was, and if that was enough to please a woman. this went on for weeks, so I told him I would block him if he didn't stop... warned him 3 times. then I had to block him. what a f**.

- They don`t like any other opinion but their own.

- They don`t like being called out on their own BS.

- They don`t want to be seen as the one losing the argument in front of others so they put a block on you.

- They don`t like your answers/questions.

I'm on the site to read and answer questions for the sheer curiosity of it, and I usually hate interacting with people on sites like these.  It tends to devolve into immature trolling.  I'm not here to make friends, but if others are, then they're welcome to it.  I block people I find annoying, or who try to add me as a friend for no reason I can see.

I've blocked one person because he didn't just voice his opinion, he attacked me for not sharing his view. After the one argument he went and anonymously answered my other questions negitively just to take shots and I have a strong feeling he 'disagreed/thumbs down) a lot of my comments.

i've never blocked anyone. if I did, it would be for a damn good reason other than simply disagreeing on an answer somewhere. in my mind blocking in that situation shows me you are weak minded and think with emotion rather than logic.

Luckily I'm posting most of my answers in Anonymous mode - so far, I've encountered one person that has blocked me, I was mildly pissed because I realized this when I wanted to give him a thumbs up!

Well, damn him.

It's some 55 years old guy who's Married and didn't really like my opinion on some question, I guess.

However I know what you mean about getting frustrated; my anti-christ is a user named dryad (she's a pompous bitch) who blocked me purely because I favoured someones (better) over hers.

A few have blocked me. Mostly cause I'm blunt and don't always agree with them :P some people can't take a differing opinion. What's really lame is they can keep responding to your messages even if they blocked you. Imo they shouldn't be allowed to.

It is bothersome, isn't it? I had a person who was my friend block me for no reason yesterday, actually...It's like she just got out of bed one morning and hated me...It's annoyed me all day today..Weird timing, huh? I don't block anyone and really don't see the point unless their messages/chats/ wall posts get REALLY frequent and irritating...

They feel that the other person is annoying or not that bright. I have 5 on my ignore list and I don't think about it. I'd rather eliminate the stressor than deal with them.

I have 49 people blocked for being pervs or immature assholes. Mostly pervs, but the immature assholes are the ones that annoy me the worst. Since when are people incapable of having a civilized debate and need to resort to childish antics?
