I hope this answer doesn't offend anyone, but I will give my perspective. I was raised majority of my life in the south and half of my family is from the south, but I have met many people from different parts of the US and world so I'm not just coming out of my ass with this :)
OK first of all there are a lot of mixed race people in the south. A lot of the white people are not pure white, and a lot of the black people are not pure black. There is a lot of native American influence in both races, and due to slavery and miscegenation a lot of our ancestors have dabbled around a bit, creating a different blend of looks (but this is a sore subject for quite a few southerners and doesn't really make for polite conversation and many people will NOT admit this but it's true)
Another thing is our culture. We're kind of traditional. The men are men here and the women are women. Of course there will always be people who don't fit into those stereotypes, but we have a lot more stereotypical manly men and stereotypical feminine women. A lot of the women here really try to make an effort with our appearance. Even if you're poor and don't have a lot of money, you will still try to keep up with your hair, nails and other beauty treatments. Leaving the house looking any kind of way is just not done. That's how we're raised, my stepmom used to always tell me never to leave the house "half steppin" because you never know when you're gonna meet your future hubby and 1st impressions always count.
Also the weather is hotter here. Meaning in the summertime you are going to wear less clothes so you want your body to be nice. It's nothing to see guys with no shirt on, and girls in booty shorts and bikini tops. We wear little to nothing in the summertime compared to the north for obvious reasons. But then again we do have a high obesity rate because the food is so good lol. But then again being stick thin is not a big deal here. I've heard in the north and in california it's important for girls to be a size 0? Wow that's crazy to me, here guys love curves so yeah you might wanna be slim but you still want a feminine figure..
I think overall big cities have a greater number of pretty girls, but small southern towns have a lot of pretty girls too. Many of us are relationship-centered. It's nothing for you to meet a 18/19 year old girl that's married/engaged with kids or planning on it. We wanna please our men and make them happy so looking good is a part of that. I have friends (girls) from NY who talk about this a lot and I guess they're different like they don't care about their looks as much, but as for me I am a woman, I love being a woman and I feel better when I look better so yeah that's why

I don't know why. and while I agree that there are ugly and pretty people everywhere, you're right. I've been to so many different places and yes, for some reason, there is a lot of very good looking people, including guys:) I used to live in the south and now I am up north, and you can definitely tell a difference but hey that's just our opinion right. I'm sure people who haven't ACTUALLY lived in these two areas will probably disagree.
Maybe because in the places you're talking about they have a lot of plastic surgery ever think of that?
There are a few different reasons. First, the Pacific Northwest doesn't have a proper summer. So you never really have a big moment where everyone is running around in shorts or bikinis or whatever. As a result there is no major preparation for bikini season because there isn't one. Next, your part of the country is all grungy and hippie and outdoorsy and casual. So both guys and girls tend to dress more similarly and wear a lot of shapeless unattractive stuff like fleeces and whatnot. Lastly, the north-west is a bit more of a "feel good about yourself" and "natural is beautiful" kind of place, which leads to less makeup, less styling of hair, less basic upkeep (hairy legs anyone?) and less emphasis on making your body look sexier in general.
The south doesn't really have any of these problems. Plus they don't have the whole west northwest "gender neutrality" thing going so girls actually make a big effort to look like girls and to carry themselves in a feminine way, rather than running around in Birkinstocks with unshaved legs.
Obviously not all of that applies to EVERY girl in the north west or EVERY girl in the south, but if you play by large numbers, it's generally true.
I find this to be true. I used to live in ohio and I moved to georgia and it's been a definite upgrade. Maybe hot women thrive or are attracted to the sunshine and warmer climates, where they can go to the beach in bikinis and stuff more often, and are therefore more concerned with their appearance and in turn do more to maintain their appearance (tanning, makeup, diet, exercise, etc). Also, maybe natural selection has something to do with it, hot girls are more likely to get laid and therefore more likely to pass on their genes to the next generation. It could have to do with the nationalities of the immigrants that settled these regions as well, maybe certain areas of europe settled different areas of the US etc. I have wondered this myself :D

I've lived in Texas for most of my life and last summer I went up to Minnesota and I thought the girls up there were way more beautiful than the girls in Texas. I mean there's a lot of bombshells up there and I don't really think there's much attractive girls in Texas or at least where I live and I live about 40 minutes from Houston.
lol, this question is unbelievably idiotic. you are inflating the heads of many southern people even, ESPECIALLY the ugly ones. There are highly attractive, ugly, and average looking people everywhere you go. Maybe it's just YOUR preferance of features are common down south.
Yea, I agree. There are pretty people everywhere, but I guess in those places people have more babies LOL. Pretty parents= pretty babies= more pretty babies
southern boys... :)
my friend in New Jersey agrees that boys look better in the south haha
but honestly, there are pretty & ugly people everywhereIt probably just depends what part of Washington you live in. Like not everyone there will be ugly.
Maybe in these areas women put more effort into looking good
Come to Philadelphia New jersey or new york and tell me that nonsense
They're not just confined to here, they're everywhere.
Are the southern people mainly of English decent?... that'll be why
idk man I had a few gfs from Seattle and I thought they were beautiful
There are beautiful and ugly people everywhere.
South is just doing it right
