Are scars a turnoff?

I have a few scars on my stomach from cuts I got last year. 2 of them are fading nicely, but one is very strong and I will likely have it for the rest of my life. Its a thick, straight cut down the center of my upper belly. the cuts are obviously healed, but the nasty scar remains.

I am very very self conscious about it and find that I am wanting to hide it (which leaves me with a mighty pasty white belly lol). I'm worried about how guys might react to it when they see me. Would such an obvious scar be a turnoff? Should I just try to find a way to keep it covered? (yes, I know, if he really cares for me, he won't care about the scar, yadda yadda, but still...)

I uploaded a picture of it to my profile, so you can see. It's just a webcam pic, so not that clear but you can still get the idea. I would appreciate true honesty on this please. Thank you.

First of all, studies have shown that people don't find others much less attractive with scars, including facial scars. In fact, women shown photos of men judged those with scars to be more attractive! Men were neutral.

We desire attractive partners because our brain thinks they look fertile and have good genetics. Someone who has bad proportions etc. our brain thinks has inferior genes. Scars, by contrast, are a result of things that happened to the person, and don't speak badly of their genes. So our brains don't find people with scars less attractive, generally.

In any case, a lot of women your (our!) age have much worse scarring, post pregnancy.

As far as whether it is relevant to your looks? It really depends on how big the scar is, where it is placed, how you got it, and whether you wear it proudly. Personally, the belly scar you have is quite symmetrical and non-malign, thus adding to your mystique and individuality. If you're still worried about it, make up a cool story to go along with it, like you fought off an attacker while you were jogging, or you were in a bar fight and some crazy chick with a broken bottle shanked you. Guys do it all the time. It sound sexier to have a scar from a race car accident than falling down a flight of stairs.

wear them with pride, girl. If a man really likes you and genuinely cares about you, he shouldn't be worried about whether you have scars or not. It's the inner beauty that counts; real beauty is deeper than skin deep. If the man doesn't accept you as you are, he doesn't deserve a great person like you. I agree with one answerer: your scars are your history, so proudly wear them.

I've known one man that has a nasty scar on his face from the car accident; I find him sexy and hot as anything. Each time I look at him, I don't see the scar: When I see him, I just want to kiss him and lick him until he groan with wanting. LOL.

if a guy truly likesyou, he's gonna like you regardless of scars, cellulite, etc.

i personallly have 5 scars from incisions from surgery, every guy I've been with doesn't care. it adds character to you, its your story.

I've slept with a guy who has horrible scars on his chest from having multiple heart surgerys as an infant and also one on his abdomen from appendectomy. he can't have a 6 pack or nothing due to that, but he's still hot as hell. no turn off for me to see scars on a guy.

Not for me, I think they're cool. They tell a story. Plus, 99% of the time, they're really not a big deal. Yours certainly isn't gross looking or anything, you've got nothing to worry about.

I think they'd be what makes you somewhat unique...to many ladies are so self conscious about stuff like that. This make me wonder what type of shallow guys they've been with in the past. Let's just call it a beauty mark...you're fine :)

If a girl has a scar or scars...no problem. I would probably ask how she got it. But if I really liked her then I wouldn't care. No need to become self concious about. I think that makes it an issue when it doesn't have to be.

I'll get called a bigot for this, but girls with no scars say to me "pampered". At least fall out of a tree or off of a bike once in your life.

i toght by scars you ment multiple scars and gnarly looking.. personally after watching the pic, I don't really think its a turnoff, I mean, I hardly noticed it, but personally I don't really mind

Idk saw a girl the other day had mad gash in her leg all the way up her leg. I still talked to her no big deal!

Some don't care.

Some are turned off.

Some don't mind but would find you more attractive without them. So it's a semi-turn off.

In your case at your age it's sort of expected for old women to have scar(s) on their stomach.
